Incredibly, our fun group is getting even more fun! Sure, we can be raucous at times, but luckily there is no movie being shown in the theater in our time slot, so we don't disturb anyone (hopefully). With all tables filled with two teams of partners, the Billiards Room is abuzz with billiard play as seen in photo No. 1. Every once in a while partners pause out of respect for the shooter, and the concentration becomes almost palpable (shown in photo 2, as Tom Tykodi positions himself for the shot, as Marvin Gaines, Ron Erickson and Johnny Ramirez admire his stance, position and strategy). Everyone is generous and kind with compliments and encouragement (as demonstrated in photo No. 3, as Bob Kemp prepares to shoot the 8-ball, and Marc Klein, Brian Anderson, Rich Meumann and Mike Saperstein hold their collective breaths). This is a really fun group of all levels of players, and no two Tuesday events are ever the same partnerships or the same people garnering coveted Table No. 1. If you are interested in sharing our laughter and camaraderie, come by the Billiards Room any Tuesday from 1 to 3 pm and join the abundant fun! ~ Eileen Gilbert-Antoine Holy cow! Ray Windhorn and Dewey Allen met again in our finals for our monthly 8-Ball tournament, like last month and the month before. Ray Windhorn was undefeated going into the finals with Dewey. Ray broke on the first game, having won the coin toss and won that game clinching the tournament win. Congratulations Ray! For our 9-Ball Tournament, Dewey Allen was undefeated but our Co-Captain, Roland Harrah (that's me), came up from the losers bracket to play in the finals having only lost one game during regular play. Because Dewey was undefeated, Roland had to win twice to take the final. Game one was won by Roland with an unlikely three ball combination to sink the 9 Ball. Game two was fought to the end with only one ball remaining but Dewey Allen won for the month. Anyone can join our club, practice with us and have a good time. Tournaments aren't required but eventually you will probably want to participate because competition is good for the game. It's all in good fun and winning gives you bragging rights and your name on the Champions' Plaque in the Billiards Room. We practice together at 7 pm on first and third Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays. Monthly 8-Ball club meetings are on the first Wednesday of the month at 7 pm. The In-house 8-Ball tournament is on the second Wednesday at 7 pm. In-house 9-Ball tournament is now on the fourth Wednesday of the month at 7 pm. Our "traveling tournaments" are the second and fourth Mondays of the month. The second Monday, we travel to Hemet Solera and the fourth Monday Solera Hemet comes here. Check the message board in the Billiards Room for any changes of dates or locations. We have also established a "First Wednesday" of the month social event, which consists of an evening dinner at the Bistro, followed by dessert at a member's home afterwards. In May, Ron and Judy Erickson hosted a good old fashioned homemade ice cream social. A good time was had by all. What a fun group we have! We're always looking for new members, so come on out and join in the fun — no special talent necessary. We meet every Wednesday morning at 9:30 am at the horseshoe venue. If you are interested in joining us, please contact Ron Erickson at (951) 846-3288, rejlerickson@sbcglobal.net or Gary Christie at (951) 941-9100, goldtoy@ earthlink.net. ~ Ron Erickson Billiards for Fun Dewey Allen and Ray Windhorn Roland Harrah and Dewey Allen 1 2 3 There is a group of Four Seasons residents who participate in RV trips.
