44 FOUR SEASONS BREEZE | JUNE 2014 | SpORTS & OUTDOOR ACTIVITIES FOUR SEASONS BREEZE | JUNE 2014 45 Wind and inclement weather cut out some of our Thursday rides last month but we did manage some fun times. Four of our members and their wives (the Howards, the Sarchetts, the Lyons andthe Browers) had an enjoyable ride through the back country east of Temecula andthen a nice lunch at the Garage in Temecula. The Garage is an interesting microbrewery where you design your own pizza, choosing your individual sauce, cheeses, meats, vegies and other ingredients from a large selection and watch the servers build it and place it in the oven. Yum! Steve and Joe took a ride out to Pioneer Town out in the Morongo Basin. Pioneer Town was originally built as an Old West movie set in the 1940s. Roy Rogers, Gene Autry and other western shows were filmed in Pioneer Town. Pappy and Harriet's Restaurant is our lunch stop on this trip. If you enjoy motorcycling, come join our regularly scheduled monthly meetings at 6 pm on the first Wednesday of the month in the Lodge Ballroom. ~ Howard Lyon Motorcycle Club We are going to start focusing on off-roading day trips. We are hoping to do at least one trip per month. This will be held the third Thursday of every month. We meet in the north parking lot of the Lodge at 8 am. In April we went off-roading in the Idyllwild area. There were six vehicles that participated in the trip. We had a lot of fun, and there were a lot of wild flowers in bloom, and the scenery was beautiful. We finished our day with lunch at the Red Kettle in the village. Anyone who has a four-wheel drive vehicle is welcome. Most of the trips are on state service trails designated as four-wheel drive. We do not do extreme off-roading. If you do not own a four-wheel drive vehicle, you are more than welcome to ride along. Call Bob Cooper to make arrangements, or with club questions, at (951) 769-6352. ~ Bob Cooper 4x4 Seasons As the warm weather approaches it will become increasingly important to make sure you bring plenty of water with you to the course. Larry Zimmerman has done a great job of setting up weekly tee times for our "Distinguished Duffers" golf group. He has helped arrange a number of new local courses for us to play at and at affordable rates. We meet Friday mornings and as the temps increase we will be going out earlier for comfort. My orthopedic problems have improved and I will be able to join the group again soon. Should you wish to join in please contact Larry Zimmerman at zzman1028@yahoo.com or (909) 553-2798 or myself, Tim Jacobson, tjacobson@dc.rr.com or (951) 797- 3563. ~ Tim Jacobson Golfing for Fun Five of six vehicles that went on April's trip to Idyllwild
