If you have not noticed the bocce courts are now going through renovation, and for a short time will not be available for playing. Every three to four years the material that gives the foundation for the bocce balls gets thinned out and needs to be replenished. We have gone through a series of experiments with different material to get the better combination of clay and aggregate for the courts which will help our players and hopefully cut down the maintenance. A special team was selected to take a field trip to the manufacturer of the material to discuss and test all the samples that helped to determine the formula for our application. They conducted certain test here on our Bocce Courts over a three day period and submitted those results to the Facility Committee and Management folks to get an approval. Their effort is greatly appreciated and we know our players will feel the same way when our season officially starts up in September. Sign up for Bocce on Sun., Aug. 24, at 2 pm in the Ballroom. Bocce Club Pickleball Pickleball is alive and well at Four Seasons! On any given Tuesday, Thursday, and Saturday morning, beginning at 7:30 am, you can find a group at the pickleball courts. Pickleball is played on a scaled down size tennis court, with a small racket and a hard wiffle-like ball. We play doubles and switch partners after every game. The hardest part is keeping score! We are open to all players with all skill levels. We have extra rackets and balls, so come on out, we'll teach you how to play. We also like to get together socially. For more information, please contact Maggie Aguirre at (951) 325-8116 or Leonard Gleason at (714) 318-4591. Come on out and join the fun. April was a great month for shuffleboard, no rain, no heat, and no wind. We had three leagues playing on Thursdays for all of April. For the very last game of the month a BBQ picnic was organized which reminded our players of things our relatives did when there was very little television. It was a nice spring day which was great for picture taking. A big thank you for being supportive. It seems like everyone there enjoyed themselves. Our planned season will start in the fall and sign up for shuffleboard will be scheduled for Sun., Aug. 24 in the Ballroom at 3:30 pm. Mark your calendar and invite your neighbor to come join you. We would like to get back up to 100 players which will give us more teams and stiffer competition. Mike and I had fun being out there with all the players, hope to see all of you in the fall. For info., contact Chairperson Ross Brunetto at (951) 926-8295. Shuffleboard 31 | Four Seasons Hemet Herald | JUNE 2014 | | Four Seasons Hemet Herald | JUNE 2014 | 32
