n Wednesday, April 30, the Hemet area experienced severe wind weather conditions. This caused an extended electrical power outage that impacted a large portion of our community. It lasted for almost 10 hours and while there was no measurable damage to our common areas, it was unnerving to a fair number of our residents. This event should serve as a wake up call for all of us to revisit our personal emergency preparedness condition. In this regard, in the March edition of the Hemet Herald Magazine our Emergency Preparedness Committee included a "Family Information and Resource Assessment" form that requested pertinent information about each of us which could be useful to Street Captains, CERT members, or other potential first responders, in the event that they were called upon to render assistance throughout the community. To date only a relatively small number of these forms have been completed and turned in to our management staff at the lodge. We strongly encourage everyone to revisit that form, fill it out and turn it in. If the power outage or some other disaster had isolated our community for days or even weeks, would you have needed assistance? Would the right people have known that you did and what you needed? Would you have been able to render assistance and no one knew? Think about it! Moving along. Your Board of Directors sends its sincere appreciation to all who voted in the recent community election of Board Members for the ensuing term. Your participation allowed the required quorum to be met and the process to be completed in a timely manner. While the members will serve a two year term, as a result of the organization meeting held immediately following the election, the Board determined that its officers would remain the same for the 2014-2015 time period. In this regard, I would like to speak to you about the members of your Board of Directors. You have no doubt noticed that the same people have served in the same positions for quite a few years now. There is a reason for this. Each member brings certain attributes to the Board. Tony, Ken, Greg, Ross, Russ, and Carey literally bring multitudes of years of experience in their individual (working years) disciplines to the Board. None of them bring any personal agenda or desire for self-aggrandizement. Each of their skill sets blends beautifully with the others, enriches your Board, and helps it to meet our mantra of always trying to do the right thing "right." To preserve, enhance, and protect our community is their only desire. To this end they all give countless hours of service on your behalf. They are remarkable people and I am deeply honored to be allowed to serve with them. Our community is the beneficiary! To my way of thinking, it is important that you know this. Take care of yourselves and your families, and always keep our men and women in uniform serving our nation in your prayers. Thank you. Sincerely, and on behalf of your Board of Directors, Tony, Ken, Greg, Ross, Russ & Carey, Hal Townend, President 3 | Four Seasons Hemet Herald | JUNE 2014 | | Four Seasons Hemet Herald | JUNE 2014 | 4 From the Board of Directors O Four SeaSonS Hemet Board oF directorS: Hal Townend, PresidenT • Tony CrisCenTi, ViCe PresidenT • Ken Pounders, Treasurer GreG roCKVam, seCreTary • ross THomas, direCTor • russ Brown, direCTor • Carey adams, direCTor
