10 OUR YUCAIPA | JULY 2014 OUR YUCAIPA | JULY 2014 11 Romantic Sunset Picnic: Get away for the evening with a significant other and have a romantic sunset picnic at Flag Hill Park. There are a few things that could make or break a romantic evening so don't forget to bring the necessities: a blanket to sit on to keep a dry bottom or to put on a table to prevent splinters, glasses, preferably plastic and in the wine glass shape, food that is not messy and will not leave onion or garlic on your breath. Spaghetti and fish are probably not the best choices for a romantic picnic. If you decide to bring "cider," don't forget the corkscrew or, if you prefer a different beverage, you can bring your "coffee" in a binocular shaped flask. Quick & Easy Picnic: If you are looking for a quick and easy picnic 7th Street Park is the place to go. I would still recommend grabbing a blanket to sit on, maybe a bucket of chicken and some potato wedges would compliment it nicely. The nice thing about quick and easy is that it can happen at any time. As long as you keep a blanket in your car and have a drive thru on the way, you are set. No planning or hassle required. Family Picnic: Take the entire family to Yucaipa Community Park for a fun picnic. It is large enough to keep all the little minions busy for the day. You might have to bring two blankets for this excursion. One blanket for the adults and one for the kids so you don' t end up sitting in spilled Capri Sun and having pretzels and fruit snacks stuck to your pants. Sandwiches are probably the best thing to pack for this because nobody ever likes the same things. I always wrap the sandwiches in paper towels so that the kids don't even have to touch them with their cootie hands while they eat them. There are plenty of jungle gyms for the kids to play on and enough shade for you to sit and watch in. The bathrooms are also close for the 21 potty breaks that usually happen between the one and two hour mark. You know you have had a good picnic when the kids are tired out when they get home and want to take a nap. All Day Excursion Picnic: Yucaipa Regional Park is the place to go for an all day event that includes eating and fun for everyone. You should probably have a van or a truck because after loading all the bikes, balls, toys, and food there may not be room to fit everybody in the car. There is a fee to get into the Regional Park but it is well worth it for the entertainment value. Once again I would recommend blankets and enough snacks to keep everybody going all day. You may even have two picnics here in one day. There is plenty of room to run around, ride bikes, play on the playground, fish, and in the summer you can even swim. There are picnic shelters and bbq's that can be reserved. Please check fees before planning a picnic here. Just for Friends Picnic: If you are looking for a day to get away and catch up with friends, Wildwood Canyon State Park is the place to go. It is located up high off Wildwood, away from the hustle and bustle. There are hiking trails so you can explore and find the perfect picnic spot. I would recommend bringing at least one blanket, a few if you want to lay down and relax. Again on this excursion I may want "sparkling cider" and some chocolate, or anything else I won't keep in my house because I will eat it all. A friends' picnic is the time to indulge in your friendships and a few other things you may not always allow yourself. The most important thing to bring to a friendship picnic is a listening ear to catch up on all the exciting gossip that you will get to hear. 5% Military Discount (former & current members) Ask for the Jarhead! 909-965-8404 Since 1985 Licensed & Insured DON'S TREE SERVICE • Ornamental Beautification of Trees • Preventative Maintenance from Wind Destruction • Correct Pruning, Trimming Skills • Tree Removals, Stump Grinding • Tree Planting/Transplanting $10 Off Oil Change a/C perfOrmanCe CheCk $19 99 expires 8/1/14 expires 8/1/14 suMMer specials Let's have a picnic!
