YUCAIPA VAllEY CHAmbEr Of COmmErCE SCHOlArSHIP fOUNDATION AWArDS fIrST TImE SCHOlArSHIP TO CrAfTON HIllS COllEgE STUDENT For the first time since the Yucaipa Valley Chamber of Commerce Scholarship Foundation was founded in 2008, the Chamber awarded a $1,000 scholarship to a Crafton Hills College student. Ryan Judd was selected from several applicants to receive the scholarship to assist him in pursuing his degree in Accounting. He will transfer to BYU in the fall. Ryan is local, graduating from Yucaipa High School in 2005. He married his high school sweetheart and has three children. The scholarship meant a lot to this husband and father whose ultimate goal is to provide for his family. Yucaipa CrossFit is a strength and conditioning facility dedicated to developing individuals and athletes into elite levels of fitness. Owners Justin and Lauren Himenes are very excited to own a business in Yucaipa and had an all-day celebration including free 3 oz. yogurt. They are proud members of the Chamber and Yucaipa First. Yogurtland is located at 33694 Yucaipa Blvd. in the Yucaipa Valley Center. They are open Sunday through Thursday 11 a.m. to 10:00 p.m. and Friday and Saturday from 11:00 a.m. to 11:00 p.m. You can reach them at 797-5550. Best Lumber celebrated new ownership with a ribbon cutting in May. Rod and Denise Pugh have purchased the business from Margie Duvall who will remain on as a consultant for the next two years. The store hours will remain the same under the new ownership: Monday through Saturday from 7:30 am to 7 pm and Sunday 8 am to 7 pm. Dora Ordonez, Vice Chair of the Scholarship Committee and Jason Ross, Vice Chair of Finance, conducted several interviews at the high school and chose Olivia Sanchez and Riane Castro as the award recipients. Olivia Sanchez plans to attend California State University San Marcos where she will study Business Administration. Riane Castro plans to attend either California State University San Bernardino or California State University San Marcos where she will study Business.
