There are a few notable changes in our Art League. As in June, there will be no general meeting nor demo during the months of July or August. Our next meeting is on Thurs., Sept. 18 at 1 pm in the Lodge Arts and Crafts Room. Lucia K. Wolfer will show us techniques about "Preparing Images and Transferring Them Onto Various Surfaces." During July, Barbro Evans will exhibit her artwork on our Lodge Gallery wall while Char Weakley will be showing her works in the cabinet. If you wish to exhibit either your art or crafts, please fill out the form and put it in the box in the Lodge. We will inform the people who are chosen three months in advance of their actual display. On Sat., Oct. 18, in conjunction with the car show, we will have our annual show in the Ballroom, whereas the crafters will be outside under the tents. More information to follow as we get closer to the date of the event. Our talented and experienced teachers offer many classes including acrylics, tole painting, tatting, memoir writing, watercolor, drawing, calligraphy and more. Acrylic classes will start in the fall. For information about these classes and upcoming workshops, check the clipboards and sign up in the Arts and Crafts Room. Contact Barbara Kenyon at (951) 537- 8779 or Nancy Hawkins at (951) 926-2465 with any questions about our club and its activities. His most recent award was for his painting "Suspicion" shown at the "Festival of the Arts" in San Jacinto. Other awards include a People's Choice Award, Honorable Mention, and other award recognitions for his work. John participated in the Temecula Festival of the Arts in 2012 and most recently participated in the Temecula Valley Art League's juried show held at The Merc in Temecula. John was one of three featured artists in "Art Times 3" at the Esplanade Arts Center, presented by Diamond Valley Arts Council, a six-week exhibition in San Jacinto. In the early 1970s, John began taking drawing, commercial design and photography classes, culminating in artwork in Conte' Crayon, pastels, pencil, ink, three-dimensional collage, and photography as well as Marshall Oils, concentrating primarily in acrylic medium. John started painting and taking painting classes in the early 1980s. More recently, John's paintings have evolved to include enhanced portraits, abstract subjects, out-of-this-world florals, seascapes and sea life, surreal landscapes, as well as paintings of four-legged friends, murals, mixed media, and three-dimensional abstracts. John finds inspiration from nature but loves to add his very imaginative flair and techniques to produce one-of-a-kind artwork. Please visit John's website at www.
