Library Committee Thank you for all the new book donations. We happily work at keeping it organized and continuously shelve returned and new book donations. We also donate books to the downtown public library that we cannot display helping them to stay open. We are really in need of audio books on CDs as few people have cassette players any more. We only have a couple CDs left. It would be great if you donated some of your collection for others to enjoy. Thank you in advance! Help us to keep the library current. Please donate hardbound prolific authors from the year 2000 up. Our paperbacks are 2010-2014. The magazine rack holds three months of donated material. As of this newsletter please bring May, June and July for us to display. We have had an increase of donated magazines lately. Thank you, we appreciate them. Just make sure the year is 2014. Some have donated a full collection dating back to 2009. We just don't have the room. Our non-fiction section is filled with biographies and a broad range of interesting topics. Thank you for expanding the newer travel section by donating world travel books. Check them out in the lower shelves. We never accept technical books and actually the downtown library doesn't accept them either. Our situation with someone using the library for business seems to have been resolved. Every time a library committee member passed the library and the door was closed we opened it and remarked that the door needs to be open. They are no longer conducting business. We still have some residents "snoozing" and that's a testament of a peaceful, beautiful room. Enjoy! Book Review: Volunteer Scotty read, The Forgotten, by David Baldacci. A fast paced page-turner that is guaranteed to keep your interest. Army Special Agent John Puller investigates his aunt's death that the local Paradise, Florida police wrote off as an accident. However, just before she died, she mailed a letter to Puller's father, telling him that beneath its beautiful veneer, Paradise is not all it seems to be. With some discreet snooping, Puller finds among the palm trees and sandy beaches of Paradise, a shocking conspiracy that unravels in action packed suspense. Cookie also read it and adds, "full of romance that will keep you guessing and characters galore. It's a hard book to put down!" 13 | Four Seasons Hemet Herald | July 2014 | | Four Seasons Hemet Herald | July 2014 | 14 Facilities Committee Our project of improving the lighting on Four Seasons Boulevard, which has turned out to be a favorite evening walkway, is now complete between Bogey and Trevino. The availability of solar driven lights made the project attractive financially and, from our measuring light patterns, meet all of our safety needs. We are in discussion on the need to add a few more solar lights along World Cup Drive. Please note that these locations are the only walkways within the community being considered for solar illumination. We are moving ahead with the project of fence installation around the perimeter of Lot "A" at the West end of the Community. We have received three bids for the task and we have selected a contractor. The Board has approved the contract. Final plans are progressing to start the work. We cannot forecast an exact start date but it should be in July at the latest. We have installed no trespassing signs along the perimeter; they will be placed on the fence when it is installed. These signs meet the legal requirements to allow us to take action on trespassers. Some residents have voiced a wish to use the Horseshoe Pits. No one has come forward to organize the effort to establish an official "club" or organization if necessary. To make sure those wishing to get involved have the opportunity, we have set up an "Interested in Horseshoes" list at the front desk. Those who sign up will be contacted for a get together in the Lodge within the last week of July. We will proceed from there. Other Projects currently being pursued are: street sign replacement, selected street resurfacing, Plaza Area remodeling project, front entrance paver cleaning, Lodge and Spa Bldg. exterior "repainting," water fountain in the Lodge turnaround and LED lights for the HOA maintained streetlights. Even though the Facilities Committee does monthly inspections on community assets, we do miss things occasionally and we rely on residents to report things they see that need attention. Please report any issue to the front desk so it can be routed to the proper committee. Financial Report Social Committee Everything is going well for the July 4th party. It will be fantastic! We're looking forward to celebrating the USA's Birthday with all our Four Season friends. We have a unique opportunity to see and hear the Hotel California Band, a Tribute to the Eagles on Aug. 3. They will be in California playing at several other venues. One of our residents Janice Depew has been able to book them here while they are in the area as she has done with all the other groups who have played at these special events. We will be entertained by the music of our era for a less expensive ticket price. But the best part is there is no drive to get to the venue or home and the parking is free! Tickets should be on sale by the time you receive this newsletter. Back by popular demand is our second annual pool party on Sept. 6. We all had so much fun last year we wanted to repeat that experience and add some new highlights. Ticket will go on sale by the end of July. We are planning another Appreciation Brunch on Sept. 22. If you have chaired an event or worked on one, you will be getting an invitation sometime in August. If we have missed you, be sure and let us know. This is the time we plan events for 2015. We still need your input so send any ideas to marilyn.rhyne@ gmail.com or hand them in at the front desk marked Social Committee.
