If the first falls on a Saturday or Sunday then sign-ups will begin on the following Monday. If a holiday falls on the first day of the month, sign-ups will begin the next day. WaItING lISt POlICy The waiting list is created by the Rec. Dept. for sold out events/excursions. This list is used (in order of registration) when the attendee has to cancel due to illness, doctor's appointment, etc. The waiting list is not used for additional sign-ups for secondary excursions that are scheduled due to their popularity. REFUND POLICY: 1. Cancellations made 30 days prior to the departure date of an excursion or special event will qualify for a full refund. 2. Cancellations made after the 30 day refund deadline are not refundable. Thank you! reCreatIon department | sun lakes lIfestyles | July 2014 | 9 eXcursIons USS Midway Museum Wed., Sept. 24, 8 am - 5 pm, $35 pp. Prepare yourself for a lifetime memory aboard the USS Midway Museum. You'll explore a floating city at sea and relive nearly 50 years of world history aboard the longest- serving Navy aircraft carrier of the 20th century. Admission includes a self-guided audio tour to 60 exhibits throughout the historic aircraft carrier and 29 restored aircrafts. Meticulously restored aircraft from World War II to Operation Desert Storm are on display for all visitors aboard the USS Midway Aircraft Carrier Museum. Lunch is on your own. The Fantail Café is located aboard the USS Midway Museum and it offers guests a wide variety of food and beverage options. If you are finished with the tour and would like to browse the pier, go ahead, and take a look at "Port o' Call," "Anthony's Fish Grotto Restaurant," or "Star of India." Heavenly Tahoe Departs Sun., Sept. 28 at 7 am, returns Wed., Oct. 1, at approx. 7 pm. Enjoy the Sierras in all their splendor on this 4-day escape to heavenly Lake Tahoe! You'll spend all three nights at Harrah's Lake Tahoe where you'll have easy access to all of the excitement of South Shore Lake Tahoe. You'll also have an entire day to spend at your leisure and another day to explore the historic silver mining boomtown of Virginia City. Highlights include: breakfast each morning at the hotel, a stop at Schat's Bakery on the way home, and round trip motorcoach transportation. For residents just wanting to watch, the carts will be turning right out of the Main Clubhouse this year, then right on Riviera, followed by a right back onto Country Club Dr., then into the Main Clubhouse parking lot. The opening ceremonies, classic cars presentation, Precision Stardust Dancers, award announcement, and parade kickoff will all happen from inside the Main Clubhouse parking lot. For parade participants, the theme for this year's celebration is "LET FREEDOM RING." We will be offering ribbons and gift certificates to the restaurant for the following six categories: 1st, 2nd, and 3rd Places, Most Original, Most Creative, and Spirit Award. New York New York uses the New York City influence of its name in several ways. Its architecture is meant to evoke the New York City skyline; the hotel includes several towers configured to resemble New York towers such as the Empire State Building and the Chrysler Building. In front of the property is a lake representing New York Harbor, with a 150 foot tall replica of the Statue of Liberty, and replicas of the Soldiers and Sailor's Monument, the Whitney Museum of American Art, the Main Immigration Building on Ellis Island, and Grand Central Terminal. July 4th Golf Cart Parade Napa-Sonoma Wine Country Departs Nov. 16, returns Nov. 19, 4 days, 3 nights. Sip and sample your way through California's Wine Country! Wine was first produced in the Napa-Sonoma region as early as 1780 by Franciscan monks. Today it is home to vineyards dating all the way back to that era, as well as contemporary new wineries. You'll spend three nights in the Napa Valley region and two full days touring and exploring. You'll taste the wines of Benziger, Jacuzzi, V. Sattul and beautiful Viansa Winery. You'll also ride the Napa Valley Wine Train as you chug past pastoral farmlands and vineyards while sipping wine and enjoying lunch on board.
