Hope to see all of you at our Sun Lakes 4th of July parade. Come in your cart and park on Country Club or bring some chairs. This is a fun event for everyone. Our next meeting and caregivers support group will be Thurs., July 17, at 10 am in the Main Clubhouse Multipurpose Room. Our guest speaker will be Caroline Reader from Life's Change Ups. Caroline's topic will include information on transitional services for seniors who may be downsizing, assistance with estate administrations, and additional serviced required for each changing lifestyle. Most of you will agree that this is a time in our lives for many changes, and we can use and need all the knowledge Caroline has to share with us. Our caregivers support group begins immediately after Caroline. Diane Stone and Larry Liebers do a great job leading this group. We are here to help you take advantage of all we have to offer. Our Arts and Craft group is designed to give you the freedom to attend the meeting and support group and not have to worry about your loved one being left home alone. Just drop them off at the Arts and Crafts Room on your way to the meeting. We play games, take walks, sometimes we just sit and visit and listen to what's on their minds. We usually have entertainment and exercise. Last month Susan Brown entertained and Shelly Braatz returned with light Tai Chi. Our volunteers are loving, caring and experienced in being around people with Alzheimer's and Dementia. Stop by and check us out. Call me if you want to know more about our group, Anne at 845-8700. If you have questions or would like to learn more about memory loss and Alzheimer's disease, we have reading material we can share with you. Call Shirley at 845-2008. Memory Care Group (Formerly Alzheimer's & Dementia Helpers) Ending our educational information (50 Things you should know about Alzheimer's disease) here is our last one. #50: You don't have to do it alone. If Alzheimer's disease is affecting your life, you can take steps to ease the suffering this disease can cause. We meet January through October, typically on the second Wednesday of the month, 11 am - 12:30 pm in the Main Clubhouse Bus Room. There are discussions on the latest findings and research, medications, nutrition, exercise, and coping skills brought to us by various speakers. Come to our group to learn and share your experience with others. Info., Gerri Piechowski, 769-2305. Parkinson's Support Yiddish Culture Club A Night Of Magic is the theme for our Wed., July 9, 6 pm, Summer Barbecue Dinner in the South Clubhouse. Our star for the evening will be "Magic Mike" Bailardo, a full time Comedy Magician and Comedy Stage Hypnotist of many years experience who has provided first class entertainment to corporations, colleges, country clubs and casinos across the country as well as cruise ships on the high seas. His credits also include appearances as the Coca Cola Magician, the Magic of Macy's Magician and Conagra Foods Chef Boyardee Magician. He has appeared as the Special Events Magician at the Living Desert for 15 years. He is a "well seasoned" veteran with many years of experience in providing first class entertainment. For those of us who have "seen it all," "eaten it all," and "done it all," this should be a most enjoyable evening! While speaking of things "well seasoned" we should sing the praises of our chosen menu for this scrumptious dinner that has been planned for those lucky 100 people who get their paid reservations in before July 3. We are celebrating this event with BBQ tri-tip and BBQ chicken. You get some of each if that is what you want! This will be accompanied by baked beans, corn on the cob, potato salad, cole slaw, iced tea and freshly baked bread with butter. For your end-of-dining pleasure you can dip into peach cobbler and if that doesn't fill you up we'll put an after dinner small treat on the table. This marvelous meal and magical evening is $15 pp for members and $18 pp for guests. The reservation form is on the flyer in the Main Clubhouse. Please enclose it completed with your name and your check. For a reserved table of eight persons enclose all names and checks on one reservation form. Send reservations to Fran Rayner, 5871 Myrtle Beach Drive. Hope to see you all there. Once on a cruise, a magician asked my very skeptical husband to help him out. He began by relieving my husband of his watch, wallet, and belt without him knowing it. The magician then removed my husband's socks without him knowing it. My husband always wore heavy oxford type shoes with laces. He, my husband, claimed he never felt a thing and he wore size 14 shoes! Who knows? Maybe this is the same magician!
