July Art Workshops: Joann Taylor will teach a one-day watercolor workshop on Sat., July 19, from 9 am to 4 pm. The cost for this workshop is $30 for members/non-members. Marge Amstadter will teach a workshop on Composition from 9 am to 12 noon on Mon., July 21, and again on Mon., July 28. Marge will present the same material on both dates. The cost for either of these workshops is $20 for members/non- members. Please contact Socorro Castellano at 769-9581 if you are interested in attending either Jo's or Marge's workshop. The July General Meeting is Sun., July 20, at the South Clubhouse at 2 pm. The mini-show winners at the May General Meeting were as follows: 1st place – Traci McCall; 2nd place – Rosa Gascoigne, 3rd place – Jerry Searcy. The Best of Show was Rosa Gascoigne. The 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place winners were chosen by all those at the meeting. The Best of Show was chosen by Sharon Rachal, the demo artist at the meeting. Chess 4 Fun We invite players of all skill levels for social play and gladly encourage new players to join. We meet Saturdays in the Main Clubhouse Multipurpose Room, 1 - 5 pm, and the 1st, 3rd and 4th Monday, 6 - 9 pm. Bring your Chess set and clocks, if you have them, so we will not run short. For players new to chess, we recommend learning the fundamentals of the game before engaging in play with others. There are excellent tutorials on YouTube and throughout the Internet which will give you the needed skills to begin playing. It is not necessary to have a partner or to sign up in advance. Info., Lynn at 769-1868. Duplicate For Fun The Sun Lakes Duplicate Bridge Club meets on Tuesdays at 6 pm in the North Clubhouse. The game does not earn Master Points, but it allows players to enjoy the experience of duplicate bridge without the competitive stress that sometimes occurs in sanctioned games. Maybe you have stopped there for a date shake; maybe you have just looked at the building and all the cars wondering what was the big attraction. Ms. Isabela Partida will meet with us at our July 25, 11 am to 12 pm. This should be a very interesting presentation. While a person is thinking about moving to a different location, there are many things to consider and, believe it or not one of the most common questions to be answered is "Is there a Trader Joe's nearby?" What is it that makes Trader Joe's so popular? Come to the Aug. 22 meeting when Ms. Kristen Theotig, a representative of Trader Joe's, will talk about it's market ing strategy, mission, how they buy their food, and what sets them apart form their competitors. Trader Joe's puts out a newspaper concerning products that are made available t o its shoppers. It also features samples of taste tempting foods and beverages that are available in their stores.
