A total restoration of the Mustang was finished in August of '98. They raced this car from 1983 to 1989 with the "Nostalgia drag racing association" and retired the car that year. They started showing the car in 1998 and have won many trophies over the years. In the Winter of '09 Johnny came up with the idea of forming a car club of all the folks in Sun Lakes who have an interest in cars of all kinds & shapes. He was instrumental in laying the ground work for what we now call the "Cruzin Cronies." Johnny deserves credit for starting this group of Car People. Thank you Johnny! We meet the first Saturday of every month except December. In July we will drive our cars in the 4th of July Parade. Be sure to contact Jay Jesus at 490-4320 or e-mail lakcej5@dc.rr.com. Our club has had some very enjoyable outings this year as we hosted our At Home Rally in January, a trip to Pechanga in March and also a fun time in Pismo Beach in May. A BIG THANK YOU goes out to all who helped by stepping up as trail bosses or as committee members. Now that the summer months are upon us, we would like to wish you all safe travels whatever your plans may be. Be sure to mark your calendars and meet us in Bishop for our Sept. 7-12 rally. This will be hosted by Allen and Karen Hill and if you are planning on attending and will be traveling before hand we suggest you contact them to complete your paperwork ahead of time. This will be the perfect way to end your summer travels. Oct. 15: Pizza Party and general meeting to be held at the South Clubhouse. Nov. 2-7: Chula Vista hosted by Jim and Lyn Ball. We have some fun things planned for this one including a couple of surprises so be sure you don't miss out! If you would like to enjoy the company of good friends and fun times in some beautiful settings this is the club for you. We conduct five rallies during the year. We offer planned activities at each of our rallies with your choice of participation. Activities may include sightseeing in the area, a round of golf, bocce ball, ring toss or bean bag baseball. Some members gather for card games in the evenings. Not the gaming type? We also offer you one of everybody's favorite pastimes of getting together to share a few meals. If you would like to join our club or attend one of our rallies as a guest you may contact Lyn and Jim Ball at 769-3028. Sun Lakes RV Club Bible Study Our Bible study group is non-denominational. All are welcome. We meet together every week for fellowship and study. On the first Wednesday of each month we meet for dinner before our regular meeting. Reservations for dinner are taken in the meeting the last Wednesday of each month. Bring your Bible, any version, and listen to or participate in our discussion of the evening topic. We're all learning together. We'd be delighted if you'd join us. We meet every Wednesday at 7 pm in the Main Clubhouse Multipurpose Room. Have you performed in: Glee Club? Chorus? Church? The shower? If you can carry a tune, come sing with us… we want YOU. Sing with us in chorus, small groups, or quartets in Barbershop Harmony. Previous singing experience is desirable but not necessary. Barbershop Chorus July 4th Extravaganza… Join the Paisano Club, where everyone is welcome! Let's celebrate the American way, waving commemorative flags, raising melodic voices, and enjoying scrumptious food on Fri., July 4, at 5 pm, South Clubhouse, $15 pp. We can look forward to an excellent meal of Tri-tip au jus, chicken on-a- stick, barbecue beans, green salad, and potato salad. Dessert will be apple squares with ice cream. Coffee will be available with the meal. If you prefer other liquid refreshments, you may BYOB. Cut off date to sign up for this event is Mon., June 30, as mentioned in the June Lifestyles. Entertainment for the evening will also include Barb and Rosie's Karaoke, featuring DJ Blast. Our June meeting put a smile on everyone's face with an unbeatable meal by Chef Bob, dancing performed by IDC Chinese Dancers, and Bingo with some big winners. You can count on the Paisano Club for a great time. We are an extraordinary group here at Sun Lakes. We will not have a regular monthly meeting in August; however, we are coordinating an event with the Recreation Department for an excursion to Del Mar Race Track. This will be a lot of fun, so come along for the ride. If you came last year, you know this was an unbeatable day of competition among friends, with guaranteed laughs.
