We started on May 19 and will end on Aug. 18. With only 14 weeks of bowling everyone is pushing hard to get to the top of the winners list. This summer we have 16 teams. Sun Lakers are finding that this is a fun venue for the summer and winter. This is not only a chance to show off your bowling skills but a great bunch of people to socialize with. As of this writing the teams of Edie Voekel, Pat Sedlacek, Harry Taylor and Sandy Hepburn and Bill McDonald, Lisa Koerbel, Shirley McDonald, and Hal Taylor are tied for first place. Harry Taylor has high series with 682, Larry Storms has scratch game with 248 for the men. Bonnie Green has high scratch series with 530, and Jeanne Stolarz has high game with 204 for the women. Wow, great bowling. Many of our bowlers attended the Prime Timers no tap- bowling tournament in Las Vegas in June. This is an annual event that we really look forward to. We not only had a great time but quite a few of our Sun Lakers finished in the money. The ones that I know of are Bud Miner, Bonnie Green, Teri Comerford, Dan Comerford, Peggy Laurel, Bill McDonald, Hal Taylor, Faye Bearden, Herb Bearden, and Andy Toro. Congratulations to you all. How can you not want to join the fun at Canyon Lanes? Our winter league begins on Mon., Sept. 8 at 9:30 am. Our sign up meeting will be on Aug. 25 at 10 am in the Main Clubhouse Ballroom. As seniors I don't think that we can find a better sport for the price we pay at Canyon Lanes. For $8 dollars a week, this includes a prize fund, we bowl one day for league play and then get to practice during the week for free. My wife and I love it and our friends love it. If you ever thought you might want to bowl this is your chance. This is a handicap league so whatever your average you can still compete. Hope to see you this winter at the bowling alley. AA winners were Ray and Betsy Messerer, Maggie Kline and Tom Keheley. Is any team ever going to beat them?! Well done, team! A winners were Carrie and Richard Chelberg and Jeanne and Lloyd Dana. They'll be movin' on up! Good on ya, mates! B winners were Joy Bailey, Sue Crowe, and Bob and Marla Henrich. Welcome to the A League! They had an undefeated season! The Summer Tournament began with approximately 60 teams! This is the largest summer turnout we've ever experienced. We have some new teams and some teams made up of 'summer- only' partnerships. If you're looking for something to do some balmy evening, stop by the courts and cheer on the teams. We're playing, as usual, Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday at 5, 6, 7, and 8 pm. As a heads-up, the Fall Tournament entries must be in by Aug. 29, with play beginning Sept. 8. Times will be 5, 6, 7, and 8 pm, and then move up two hours as the weather darkens and cools, but check the bocce article in the August Lifestyles for confirmation. We'll look for you at the courts!
