Tops (Take Off Pounds Sensibly) 38 | sun lakes lIfestyles | July 2014 | health & sports Clubs The weather is getting warmer so players are starting earlier and playing more in the evening. The first Saturday mixer starts at 8 am in the summer. Lillie promises no hot coffee, only cold juice for beverages. Donuts, as usual, from Donut De-Lite. One change to the evening routine is a casual mixed doubles on Thursday evenings at 6 pm. Sign up sheets are on the bulletin board by Court 1. The Tennis Club's traditional breakfast at Wimbledon at the South Clubhouse is coming up on July 6. As usual, there will be the big screen TV, breakfast, and raucous fans. Wednesday beer and pizza is coming up again on July 16. This continues to be one of our most popular ongoing events. If you have not tried it, come on out. We have players and non-players, and we all have a great time on the terrace overlooking the courts. The refreshments are great, the tennis is fun, and the people are your friends. All this playing should get you tuned up for the club men's and women's championships that are coming up in September. Volunteers are going to be needed to help run the tournaments so, please call Dave Huetten if you are interested. Speaking of volunteers, We have a growing group that really help to make our tennis events click. Special thanks to Mike Galongo for being Tournament Director for the Mixed Doubles tournament, to Lillie Lawaetz for running the Saturday mixers, to Peggy Huetten for starting up the Thursday evening mixed doubles, to Bob and Michele Walter for taking over the wine and cheese social this year, and also to Michele for pitching in on the Charity Week event.
