CLUBS & GROUPS | FOUR SEASONS BREEZE | AUGUST 2014 31 Line Dancing Can you believe it is only four months until the holidays are here? If you have been thinking "I need to learn how to line dance before next New Years Eve" you need to get started. If you start now, you will know or be able to follow four to five easy dances. I take you step by step through every dance so you learn it slowly. As you learn one dance, the steps will appear in other dances making them even easier to learn. You just need someone to show you. Dancing is great exercise not only for the body, but for the mind and memory. It is important to get plenty of exercise as we age and dancing is a rhythmic set of movements that count as exercise. Challenge yourself — come give line dancing a try, or just come watch. Class is every Tuesday; beginner's from 3 to 3:45 pm and advanced from 3:45 to 4:30 pm. ~ Martha Franck This class is for those of you who want to express themselves in a tangible approach. Students vary from not drawing since High School to advanced students whom are always striving to be better and many somewhere in the middle. The class emphasizes strong basics, contrast or punch, learning how to see details ("If you can't see it, you can't draw it!") and how to take control of your image. The most successful students are those who are willing to try and put effort into their work. Your selection of images to draw are guided to your ability and not over your head. Working towards the more difficult pictures as your skill improves. Art is all about the journey. Classes are Mondays, 10am-12noon and/or Wednesdays, 6 to 8pm. Come start or continue your journey with us! ~ Rob Kelman Creative Drawing & Sketching Class Work by the Artist of the Month Lian Lee Counter Culture Cinema We have twice-monthly screenings of movies you may not find at your Cineplex: indie films, foreign films, documentaries, etc. Check us out! Our first August screening, on Sunday, Aug. 10 at 6 pm, is the film Sparrows Dance (USA 2012, 81 minutes). Here is a brief description from IMDB.com: "When stage fright gets the best of her, a former actress stops leaving her apartment, crippled by fear of the outside world. Living off delivery food and residuals from her acting career, she spends her days watching bad TV and spying on the city from her window. But when her toilet overflows and a kind, compassionate plumber shows up, she reluctantly allows him into her refuge." Our second August screening, on Sunday, Aug. 24 at 6 pm, is the film The Unknown Known (USA 2013, 103 minutes). Here is a brief description from IMDB.com: "Former United States Secretary of Defense Donald Rumsfeld discusses his career in Washington D.C. from his days as a congressman in the early 1960s to planning the invasion of Iraq in 2003." All of our screenings are followed by lively discussion about the film; we'd love to have you join us! The Lodge Theatre has very limited seating, so if you're interested in our screenings, come early. We hope to see you there! Coming in September: Le Week-end and The Broken Circle Breakdown.
