CLUBS & GROUPS | FOUR SEASONS BREEZE | AUGUST 2014 29 Join us on Monday for the game of Bridge in the Lodge Card Room at our new time 12 pm. All levels of bridge players are welcome. Beginners can take free lessons at 11 am every week. Bridge will give the brain some exercise and we can all use that at our age. We play party type Bridge where we rotate partners. This enables you to meet and play with different people. Since we play round-robin style, we try to use Standard American as convention of choice. Some do try some other conventions, but only if both parties agree up front. All of us play at different levels and are learning how to play the game better(practice makes us better). Some of the previous students have learned enough that they now sit in and play. If you're interested or have questions please call Helen at (951) 845-9312. We will be glad to help you learn the basics of the game and hope that you will join us to either learn how to play, watch or play the game of Bridge. ~ Bill Guy Bridge We meet every Wednesday from 5 to 9 pm. From 5 to 7 pm, all are welcome to play and participate or watch the games. From 7 to 9 pm, club members are assigned tables to play on based on their winning performance. Come have fun, enjoy the game, and make some new friends. We are also planning to do other events and activities outside the club. In May, some members went on a trip to Fontana Raceway to see Lightning Leroy Wright race his high-powered fabulously fast, hot Volkswagen. In the opening rounds on a ¼ mile track the car went 11.87 off the trailer. The fast time of the day was 11.68 at 113 miles per hour. Leroy has been a street racer since 1965 and a professional racer since 1970 and was featured in Hot Rod Magazine in March of 2014. Leroy loves racing and the competitive challenge it brings. He is also a very competitive domino player. Some members of the Domino Club went to the raceway to cheer and support Leroy. A tent was put up and smoking Chef Solomon Hayes grilled up some mighty good food. Everyone had a great time. The best player for the month of April was Jesse Dimmer, who decided on having spaghetti as the dinner for the club. Reggie Fuqua, the Domino Club President revealed his cooking skills and fixed up some great spaghetti and meatballs that would put "Chef Boy Ardee" to shame. What is next for the Domino Club? A fishing trip may be coming up soon. For more information call Jessie at (951) 769- 2035 or Reggie at (951) 769-6483. "We do it on the table!" ~ Marvin A. Gaines Dominoes Gardening, cooking, horses and riding, travel, photography, and more… laughing, sharing, reminiscing, planning, and more… It doesn't sound like what one thinks of when characterizing a bereavement group. But it is characteristic of people talking about and enjoying life. And that is what happens in the healing community of our group. Of course there are tears, sadness, longing. But there is hope and there is sharing. And with hope comes resilience and the awareness that we can go on and live fulfilling lives despite our losses. If you have experienced loss and would like to see if we can help, come visit us. You will be welcomed and invited to join us on our journey. We meet on Monday from 1 to 3 pm in the Crafts Room at the Lodge. You can call me at (951) 922- 0934 or email at lauriemlarson 425@gmail.com All contact is confidential. ~ Laurie Larson Bereavement Group Dominoes champs Marvin Gaines and Pete Antoine
