27 | Four Seasons Hemet Herald | September 2014 | 7 get-Started walking tips from leslie Sansone (MyFitnessPal.com) 1. Wear comfortable, supportive shoes 2. Drink water: Proper hydration is critical. 3. Get off the couch: When you're just starting out, try walking indoors. 4. Add in power moves: Try incorporating multi-muscle movements. 5. Log your effort: Tracking your miles is always a helpful practice, and it's much easier to monitor the number of calories you burn when you do. 6. Set a goal: I recommend walking 3 to 5 times per week for general health, and 4 to 6 times per week if your goal is to lose weight. 7. Take it up a notch: Pick up the pace or do short bursts of increased speed. The class consists of six different Leslie Sansone "Walk Fit" DVDs. The easy-to-follow routines are set to music with varied tempo. No memorization of routines is required. Three of the DVDs incorporate resistance bands. You can tailor the class to your own needs. The hour class is a four mile walk. Leave early or arrive later to shorten your walk. If you can't make it three days a week, that's okay too. Men and Women are welcome and best of all we are free! We meet Mon., Wed., and Fri. from 7:45 to 8:45 am and Thurs. at 6 pm in the Lodge Ballroom. For more information contact Karen Tuvim at (951) 599-4236 or Kay Masonbrink at (951) 223-3047.
