It had been raining on and off for most of the day on Sun., Aug. 3 the evening we all were looking forward to with great anticipation! The Hotel California Eagles Tribute Band was scheduled to perform at the Lodge with the Guitar Club as their opening act! Luckily, the Guitar Club was able to pull off our entire song set list. We had about 40 minutes to share what we've been working on for the past several months. It was a great honor and we are privileged to have been invited to perform. We are so grateful to the members of The Hotel California Tribute Band as well as Janice DePew and the Social Committee for considering us for this venue. It takes a lot of practice and commitment to achieve a high level of musicianship and we can now say on our "resumes" that we were the Opening Act for this extraordinary band. We also have a very knowledgeable crew of "roadies" including Jerry "Hawk" Hawkins and Russ Brown. They have been fine-tuning our sound system and amplification. Orville Ellingworth also helps with our sound checks. Our performances have improved greatly and we are having such a great time! On another note, we have been missing a valued member of the Guitar Club for the past several months and our thoughts and prayers are with Hal Clark as he and his wife, Joyce, recover from illnesses. And lastly, Jerry Hawkins is offering to assist new residents who may have an interest in joining the Guitar Club. Please contact Jerry at (951) 926-2465 as he is forming an interest list. Our members include Russ Brown, Hank Callaghan, Al Chaney, Hal Clark, Lois Cowan, Cynthia Ellingworth, Orville Ellingworth, Bob Hagen (leader), Jerry "Hawk" Hawkins, Sandy Iannotti, Gary Lewis, Mike Murphy, Linda Negrete, and Bud Piraino. We meet on Fridays from 10 am to 12:30 pm in the Multipurpose Room. Cynthia Ellingworth is the contact at cynthia0430@verizon.net.
