Our Sept. 10 meeting speaker is Donna Jenkins. Donna has been with us before and touched on worm composting and the members wanted to hear more. Worm composting is a simple method of reusing fruit and vegetable scraps from your kitchen and yard. It is so simple it can be done virtually anywhere. The October program will be about home remedies for your home and garden. See's Candy is sold at the Garden Club General Meetings as well as the Fall Craft Sale on Oct. 31 and Nov. 1 and for the Dec. holidays. Sept. 26: Sunnylands Gardens & Visitor Center and General Patton Memorial Museum and The Vietnam Veterans Wall At Chiriaco Summit: Sunnylands Gardens and Visitor Center at the famous Annenberg Estate in Rancho Mirage will be our first stop. The estate has nine acres of gardens and a coffee shop there if you need that second cup of coffee and a pastry. The Annenberg Estate was founded in 2001 as a retreat for world leaders to convene to promote world peace. This will be a short stop before heading to Chiriaco Summit. Chiriaco Summit will be very interesting and men in particular would enjoy the war memorabilia. It has been a landmark for over 75 years and is home to the Patton Museum and the West Coast Vietnam Veterans Wall. Patton established that area as a training ground for the military who would have to fight in a desert. Trip cost is $25 and includes bus and tip for the driver.
