soCIal CluBs & gRouPs | sun lakes lIfestyles | sePteMBeR 2014 |23 Let's hope this month ends the heat, the humidity and the thunderstorms we've experienced this summer. I'm looking forward to fall, the leaves changing color and cooler weather. Our next meeting and caregivers support group will be Thurs., Sept. 18 at 10 am in the Main Clubhouse Multipurpose Room. Our guest speaker will be Leah Dixon, a certified attorney in Elder Law. Perhaps you've seen her new office on Beaumont Avenue in Beaumont. Her topic will include information in helping you get all your affairs in order before it's too late. I must thank Bob Ewert who has graciously stepped in when our July guest canceled due to an emergency. Bob, you saved the day and we learned so much about preparing for an earthquake. Thank you. Our caregivers support group begins immediately after Leah Dixon. Diane Stone and Larry Liebers lead this group. You may not realize how much you will learn from each other at this group. Give this group a try. Once again I want to remind you of our Arts & Craft group. It is designed to help you. You will have the freedom to attend the meeting and support group and not have to leave your loved one at home alone. Just drop him or her off at the Arts & Crafts Room on your way to the meeting. Our loving volunteers play games, take walks and even entertain them. Shelly Braatz helps with light Tai Chi for those who wish to participate. This month Susan Brown returns to entertain. She sings songs from years past and we usually sing along. In July Rich and Kristi Pulin entertained. They performed music they wrote and we had a wonderful time. Unfortunately they are off to Las Vegas. We hope they will stop by when in town again. To help identify problems early, the Alzheimer's association has created a list of 10 warnings signs for Alzheimer's and other dementias. Here is Know the Signs #2: Challenges in planning or solving problems: Some people may experience changes in their ability to develop and follow a plan or work with members. They may have trouble following a familiar recipe or keeping track of monthly bills. They may have difficulty concentrating and take much longer to do things than they did before. We meet January through October, typically on the second Wednesday of the month, 11 am - 12:30 pm in the Main Clubhouse Bus Room. There are discussions on the latest findings and research, medications, nutrition, exercise, and coping skills brought to us by various speakers. Come to our group to learn and share your experience with others. Info., Gerri Piechowski, 769-2305. Parkinson's Support Change the hair you HAVE… into the hair you WANT!
