If so, you might want to stop by the Main Clubhouse Billiards Room on Thursdays to watch some competitive matches, beginning at 9 am and continuing through most of the afternoon. Or you might want to join one of the eight teams. A new season begins on Sept. 4, so contact a Team Captain A.S.A.P. to get involved. Not sure you have 'game'? Come on down any day except Thursdays and Sundays to practice with us. We welcome newcomers, choosing partners at noon and playing until around 2:30 pm. Practice days are free. It costs $15 to join a team for a three-month season." If you enjoy good company and friendly competition, you will definitely like playing Pickleball or Paddle Tennis. Even if you have never played a racquet sport, such as tennis, ping-pong, racket ball or squash, you will still quickly learn these games. We have a very active group of players that play every morning. Paddle Tennis regular scheduled play is Tuesday, Thursday, Friday & Sunday at 7:30 am, and Tuesday and Thursday evening at 7 pm. Pickleball is played every morning at 7:30 am, Monday through Saturday. New players are always welcome and equipment can be provided for loan. Club membership dues are $10 annually and further information can be obtained by contacting Royce Newman 769-1103. The Summer Pickleball Mixed Doubles Tournament is in progress this month with a party planned in September among the current events. Pickleball & Paddle Tennis The Fall Tournament is about to begin. The deadline for entries was Aug. 29. Play begins the week of Sept. 8. The schedules for fall will be a little different than those for the other three tournaments. As was the case last fall, the playing times will change six week into the 10 week tournament. We will continue the summer times, 5, 6, 7 and 8 pm, the first five weeks, moving to 3, 4, 5 and 6 om the last five weeks. Since summer in Sun Lakes lasts well into October, this is our attempt to outwit the temperatures! About the time it begins to cool off, we switch to the earlier times.
