The Board of Directors has approved upgrades of the access control gate hardware and software for the Association. We look to have the project completed late in the year with the new transponders being issues in 2015. 2. The Board has approved replacing the worn lounge furniture. The furniture will be delivered shortly. 3. The Board has approved the re- landscaping work on championship hole #17. The estimated completion date is late October. 4. The Board has retained the services of a golf course designer/architect for the task of reducing turf on the golf courses. Projects Completed: 1. The replacement of the Main Clubhouse lobby doors has been completed. 2. The protective netting around the RV lot was severely damaged by a recent wind storm forcing their early replacement. This project was completed in late July. 3. A new camera/DVR system was installed on the west side of the Main Clubhouse. This new system covers the pool area as well as the south side of the parking lot. Information/Concerns/Possible Issues: 1. Main Clubhouse Pool/Spa Kool Deck: The Association is currently reviewing this matter with legal counsel to determine why the material is failing prematurely. We are looking to have the repairs completed in November 2014. 2. 2015 Pro Forma Budget: The 3rd DRAFT of the 2015 pro-forma budget has been completed with the assessment level currently slated for $236. This increase is largely due to the state mandated minimum wage increase, the Health Care Reform Act, utility rates and holding the reserves at 80% funded at year end. 3. Comment Cards: The Association launched brief comment card campaign Sept. 1 and running for 30 days. 4. Administration Office Hours: We will be reverting back to the normal operating hours of 8 am – 5 pm. Please note that you may also bring guests. Activities planned include a no-host cocktail hour starting at 5:30 pm with music. The program will include a presentation of the colors by a color guard at 6:30 pm with Bagpiper, cutting of the birthday cake ceremony, a champagne toast that will be followed by recognition of all veterans by service, including playing of service anthems. Dinner will follow; the menu includes tri-tip, roast turkey or salmon all with vegetables, salad, and dessert. Then after dinner we will hear from our guest speaker. Following our speaker we will have some special presentations and a 50/50 drawing. The proceeds will go to the Armed Services YMCA at the Marine Corps Grounds-Air Combat Center Twentynine Palms. This charity provides a wide range of programs and services for Marines, Sailors, and family members at the Combat Center. Music will be provided before, during, and after dinner for your dancing and listening pleasure. Invitations were available for pick up at the foyer of the Main Clubhouse in mid-September. Those who have attended in the past were mailed invitations Sept. 20. Seating is limited and all reservations must be in by Nov. 1. Attire is Formal/Semi-Formal. If you have a uniform please wear it. Many will be in uniform. The oldest Marine present is always honored. If you are a Marine over 90, please include your date of birth when you send in your invitation. We have converted many areas to drip systems and reduced the running time on the sprinklers. Your help is appreciated to prevent water loss. Please contact the Maintenance Department at 769-6644 if you see a water issue. Here are some tips from the California Water Board to help you reduce water and reduce your monthly water costs. • Water early in the morning or later in the evening during cooler temperatures. Water saving: 25 gallons each time you water. • Use drip irrigations to water trees, shrubs and flowers. Water saving: 15 gallons each time you water. • Put a layer of mulch around trees and plants to reduce evaporation. Water saving: 20 – 30 gallons each time you water/1,000 sq. ft. • Plant drought-resistant trees and plants. Water saving: 30-60 gallons/each time you water/1,000 sq. ft.
