38 FOUR SEASONS BREEZE | OCTOBER 2014 | SPORTS & OUTDOOR ACTIVITIES Ping Pong Club How do you have a ping pong tournament without playing a ping pong game? Well, that is exactly what we did in August. This special tournament involved bouncing a ping pong ball on your paddle while navigating yourself around an obstacle course that was set up in the Aerobics Room. Using our ping pong dividers and a couple of chairs, Rony Tordesillas designed two very challenging courses for our contestants to go through while bouncing a ping pong ball on their paddle. The object of the tournament was to get through the obstacle course in the shortest amount of time while minimizing the number of times you dropped the bouncing ball. Your final time was determined by the stopwatch plus adding one additional second for each time you dropped the ball. There were two types of competition, a single competition, and a team relay type of competition. Here are a couple quotes from two participants about this fun tournament. "Ahh… the tournament was not only good exercise but a chance to be a young kid again, having fun. It's cheaper than going to the doctor," said Rony Tordesillas "Had a wonderful time. I was having so much fun I couldn't keep my pants on. I trained very hard for this event and I really got my reward," said Richard Carrasco. (There is more truth here than fantasy. You would have had to be at the tournament to appreciate Richard's quote.) Regardless of your ping pong experience, we welcome everyone to join us Monday through Friday at 10:30 am and Saturday at 11 am.
