| Four Seasons Hemet Herald | October 2014 | 6 Dear Four Seasons Residents, For this month I would like to write about the importance and value of being a good neighbor. You've heard the term "being neighborly" which would seem easy to do. I believe that in the Four Seasons community, there are a lot of good neighbors. You might have some of those around you. On the other hand, you might have some of the other kind. You never know which ones they might be until you meet each other. When the encounter happened, how did you act? Did you welcome them? Did they welcome you? If all goes well, you now have a new friend. But, not everyone gets along with each other. Welcome to "Senior Living in Hemet!" So, you smile or wave when you see each other, or exchange pleasantries at the mailbox. That's treating the other person as how you would want to be treated. Have you heard that somewhere? The simple truth in why I'm writing about this: You're stuck with living next door to each other. Until one of you moves away. So please make the effort to work out your problems with each other before you call our office and ask my staff or me to fix it. Invite them over for coffee or a cold beverage and casually bring up what might be bugging you. You would be surprised how many times I have asked the person calling if they have spoken with the other an usually the answer was no. All of you are good people, from amazing backgrounds, cultures, and geographical regions. All of you paid good money to live here. So why carry grudges, bitterness and ill temper around? Life is too short. I'm reminded of this reality each time another resident's picture is hung in the Lobby in memoriam. So share a smile or a hug-it can make that person's day. Speaking of neighbors, Four Season's neighbor is the Hemet Golf Course. Talk about neighborly relations! For over 10 years, working with their owners and management has been one our biggest challenges. It has been and will continue to be a work in progress. It's been rocky a lot of the time, but guess what? We're stuck with each other. (See paragraph #2.) So we are doing what we can to be good neighbors. One of the things we can do is honor the Golf Course manager's request to not trespass on the cart paths, fairways, go fishing at the lake on #17 or play a few "free" holes. We don't like it when people trespass on our property, nor do they. There is plenty of open space in our community to walk, and the property does not belong to the association. Please do not trespass. In closing, please be a good neighbor. Thank you for your cooperation. A Message From Your General Manager The Importance of Being a Good Neighbor By Rick Ruth, CCAM
