Of course that knock never came. We took a moment to assess that laughter. We were in a bereavement group. We had all endured painful loss or losses. We had come together to seek comfort and understanding, and we were talking about how to keep moving forward in life, even if we didn't really think we could. We were sad! And yet here we were, laughing delightedly. The conclusion of our assessment: we are resilient. We might feel so devastated, so broken, so paralyzed by our grief that life ahead seems worthless and insurmountable, but when we share our pain and listen to others share theirs, healing ensues. And there is almost nothing more healing than laughter. Toward the end of the meeting we had our traditional moment of quiet and as we started to leave, the most recent member of our group said, "I feel better. I'll see all of you next week." We meet in the Arts & Crafts Room at the Lodge on Mondays from 1 to 3 pm. For more information call me at (951) 922-0934 or email lauriemlarson425@gmail.com.
