| Four Seasons Hemet Herald | November 2014 | 32 Bocce Shuffleboard Horseshoes Just a short message about our newest club Horseshoes. Fellows if you thought it was going to be just the guys playing you will be surprised to learn that three lady players have gotten more ringers than all of the fellows up to now. It shows you that our lady players plan to give the guys a tough play off soon. We scheduled horseshoes for a 10 week play period and one Championship game at the end. As of October 4 , we are more than half way through the games. It's had its challenges with the horseshoe pits and through trial and error we have found some ways to improve the courts for future use. Hopefully there is a plan set in motion to make the courts more conducive to be safer and easier for scoring. Horseshoes are available for anyone here who wishes to play and it's as easy as requesting a set at the front desk of the Lodge. I hope more folks take advantage of our horseshoe pits so we can have you join us when it starts up again. Who knows, maybe those shoes will bring you good luck also. Chairperson, Ross Brunetto, Co- Chairperson, Mike Crimi. Did you know that we have a mob of residents standing back behind the Spa building on Thursdays ready to push four yellow pucks and four black pucks to the trapezoid and triangle scoring area to score a 10 but not off 10 and liners don't count? Sounds complicated but most of our players have been playing for several years now and they do it with their eyes closed. Some need to sit on a scooter, or walk up with a cane or walker but play just as good as other players. This is everyone's game and physical impairments have no effect on playing shuffleboard here at our courts. Although this season is more than half over we will begin our 9th season in 2015 and would like to encourage more players to sign up for next year. Our Championship game will be on Nov. 13 and is subject to time changes so the teams will have time to play and rest between games. Hemet is known as the Shuffleboard Capital of California and makes for an interesting conversation with many folks here and in town. It helps if you have a little experience to have a conversation outside Four Seasons but playing here gives you everything needed to be knowledgeable. Please consider playing next year so we can exceed our growth expectation of 100 or more for next year. For information about the club please contact Ross Brunetto at 926-8295. As you read these articles about the Bocce Club, you probably wonder who these folks are and what is Bocce? A picture is worth a thousand words they say. How about your neighbors who up to now have endured record breaking temperatures and yet seem to gather amongst other friends and neighbors just to throw a ball. Does that make sense you ask? The Bocce Club has survived its 9th year as a club and accept the challenge of Mother Nature, and of course the other teams. We have earned the reputation of Sport/Social Club on Sunday afternoons and bolster a huge turnout. From time to time the club receives phone calls asking for players to play in competitions down in San Diego. When asked why, they tell us that our club is getting well known in the area and they never heard of bocce league's having over 100 players. Word of mouth has made some of these small city clubs inquisitive about our players and we are considered good ringers to invite to help them win their competition with other leagues in San Diego County. It's nice to be recognized and considered "Masters of Bocce" but we know here in our small community of players, we just want to have fun. If you missed this year we invite our friends and neighbors to join us next season when we celebrate 10 years of Bocce and social gatherings. Meanwhile look at the picture posted along with this article and see if these folks look familiar. They challenge you to come out and play next year. Great job players, we have made history. For any questions please contact Ross Brunetto at 926-8295.
