9 | Four Seasons Hemet Herald | November 2014 | SPLASH! THE POOL PARTY Want a recipe for fun? Well this Four Seasons event had it all. No pre-heating of oven required — Mr. Sun did that for us! Toss the following ingredients together in a big outdoor area and watch for 3 hours: one day of great weather, two tables of yummy food (Francisco outdid himself?), 120 fun neighbors, and one relaxing and awesome pool. Add several dashes of great tunes from a spinin' DJ, mix in basketball, volleyball, golf and 'hot potato' games, and finally add one lovely moonlit night, dancing, laughing and a few splashes and you've got one successful event. Thank you to Linda Adkins and her committee who cooked up one fun evening for us. Many residents have asked… The summer heat and the drought conditions have presented many challenges for our landscape maintenance crew. The heat has played havoc with our grass. There are a few areas where the grass has turned brown and efforts to save it have been futile. The problem presented by the heat is that if the grass is replaced during the heat, chances are that the new grass will not take hold and we would be facing the same problem presented by the heat. Once the weather cools down sufficiently then turf replacement will begin. There several landscape projects underway. When our builder planted many of the trees and shrubs they were small in size. Now, after many years of growth some have become detrimental to structures, sidewalks, walls, curbs, and gutters. Oleanders have invasive root systems that are creating many issues. The landscapers are beginning to remove those that are presenting potential problems. While the goal is to keep shrubs, trees and other landscape growth, there are times when removal is the only option. As a reminder, should you want to replace your landscape with a more drought tolerant design, please submit your design to the Architectural Review Committee for approval before any work is started. Refer to your Architectural Guidelines for approved materials. Landscape Committee
