| Four Seasons Hemet Herald | November 2014 | 10 November's Tip: Please ensure that your batteries are fresh/replaced for your flashlights, and especially any smoke and CO2 alarms! Also check the charge level of fire extinguishers, and make sure that they are accessible to locations of likely fires — the garage and kitchen. We have participated in the "Great Shakeout" which will occurred last month on Oct. 16 at 10:16 am. We hope that you took note and did a mindful "Duck, Cover, and Hold On" drill of your own — but more importantly, that you continually review your household's emergency preparedness and ensure that medical and emergency contact information are correct and current. We are continuing our Emergency Response Plan development and improving our communications and mobilization processes. As always, we are interested in identifying additional individuals with previous experience in medical assistance, radio communications, fire response, or public safety. There is a special need for those residents with HAM Radio experience to contact Bud Piraino so that he can add you to his Communications Plan as potential resources. We also need "scribes" to assist in record keeping and communications verifications. Everyone is welcome to attend our monthly EPC and Street Captains meetings (see monthly calendar). So if you have been reluctant to get active because you believed that CERT activities were physically too demanding, please note that by helping with the communications and record keeping, you are freeing up others that are not as constrained! As a reminder, we want continue to encourage all of our residents to be active members of Neighborhood Watch. This is a totally voluntary organization and does not have any official standing with the our Homeowners Association or its committees, but that doesn't in any way reflect negatively on its importance. We are our neighbor's neighbor, and as a "senior community," there is an additional need to be mindful and supportive of each other's welfare and safety. Emergency Preparedness Committee
