| OUR YUCAIPA | NOVEMBER 2014 5 The Community Foundation of Yucaipa Valley (CFYV) invites the entire community to "We've Got Talent!" a district wide performance and art talent show for students attending schools within the Yucaipa-Calimesa Joint Unified School District. The talent show will be in the Yucaipa High School Multipurpose Building, 33000 Yucaipa Blvd., on Sat., Nov. 8. The elementary (K-5) student finalists will compete starting at 5 pm, and the finalists in grades 6-12 will begin competition at 6 pm. The art show venue will be open from 2 to 6 pm in adjoining rooms. Tickets are on sale at www.eventbrite.com (search "yucaipa"), from members of the foundation, and will also be available at the door as available. Tickets are $10 for adults and $5 for children and students, and the tickets can be used at either or both shows, and for the art show, as well. A snack bar will be available for snack and meal items. In addition, a wide array of gift baskets and gift items will be available for opportunity drawings throughout the afternoon and evening events. All funds raised will be used for the foundation's educational grant program supporting the arts. Approximately $1,000 in cash prizes will be awarded to the top three competitors in each division (performance and art) in each level (K-5, 6-12). Judges for the performance event include veteran educators and performing artists, Alan Remele and Randy Peters, as well as Courtney Fox Taylor, publisher and performing artist. The Master of Ceremonies is YHS English teacher, Tom Stewart. As a result of the auditions that have already taken place at the school level, finalist competitors include singers, instrumentalists, composers, gymnasts, impersonators, unicyclists, lip syncing, dancers, and musical groups. The Community Foundation of Yucaipa Valley is a voluntary organization comprised of committed community leaders who are dedicated to improving the educational opportunities — including the academic, artistic, and career/technical education needs — of students who attend school in the Yucaipa-Calimesa Joint Unified School District. The organization was chartered in January 2013. Members and friends include Sherry Kendrick, Sue Christensen, Naomi Dunn, Jack Brennan, Lucia Hudec, Linda deBaun, Judy Remele, Lori Gifford, Nancy Greening, Susan Jindra, Karla Christie, Dan Crain, Linda Putnam, Betty Jo Wood, and Joe Zoba.
