We are working on a special line dance for the Christmas Show and it is coming along great! We hope many of you will attend this fun show that kicks off the Christmas Season here at Four Seasons. Have you ever asked yourself what makes some people our age seem younger and some seem older? Yes, it can be hair styles, clothing and illnesses, but mostly it is attitude. If you keep busy, which is easy to do here, and active, you feel younger. You feel included and most are happier. We are so lucky here to have three great dance groups to choose from. Dancing is so good for you; try one of these groups. If you don't like it, try another. Chances are one of them will get you excited and involved. Dancing is a fun way to exercise, laughing along with other people and enjoying good music. It stimulates the brain as well as the feet. You have to concentrate to learn new steps. Dancing improves coordination and balance which we really need as we age. So stay young… take up dancing! You still have time to learn a couple of basic line dances before the New Year's Eve party. Even if you don't know how to dance, these are easy. Line dancing is very forgiving; just move in the same direction using similar steps and it is called a variation, not a mistake. There will only be two classes in December, Dec. 2 and 9. Beginners class starts at 3 pm Tuesdays in the Lodge Ballroom; the advanced class follows at 3:45 pm. Classes will resume Jan. 6, 2015. Wishing all of you a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year! That is what our line dance family has done this year. We grew in number as we welcomed new friends and decreased as we have said farewell to some old ones. I want to express my gratitude to all of you who have continued to support me throughout the year. I feel privileged to bring my love of dance to all of you. It is my hope that 2015 will bring continued growth as we learn more dances. I will continue to challenge you because I believe you are all up to it. Here are some line dance tips: Never come onto the dance floor carrying anything. Never stay on the floor to talk - if the music has started, go off the dance floor to chat. When dancing near beginners, be mindful and courteous and don't show off. Remember the floor is for everyone. Try to leave the outside lane clear for couple dancers . If the floor is crowded, take small steps, enjoy the company, but watch for collisions. If you should bump into someone, it is customary to apologize whether it is your fault or not . Don't be tempted to stop dancing to teach, especially if there is no room. Never walk through a line of dancers to cross the floor, always walk round the floor or wait. Remember everyone was once a beginner; if you can already dance, do try to be helpful to newcomers. When starting off the dance, go to the front so that others can fall in behind you. Sometimes couples will choose to dance around the outside lane; don't stand in their way, as they always have the right of way. Keep your head up, keep smiling and enjoy yourselves :-) Most important…. HANG IN THERE! Finally, don't give up if you enjoy line dancing. We are all wired differently. Some pick up the moves right away and some of us have to work a little harder. I wish you all a wonderful holiday season as you travel to spend time with family and friends. Enjoy yourselves and stay safe! See you on the dance floor. ~ Priscilla Robles Heart & Soul Line Dance The Christmas Dinner Dance is our last event of the year, so we hope you can join us for an evening of good fun, good food, good music and good dancing, Friday, Dec. 12, 5:30 to 9:30 pm. Enjoy the Ultimate Dance Experience. Dance because you can! It's time to dust off that old resolution and do it. Just show up on Monday evenings at 6:30 pm in the Ballroom and treat yourself to some serious fun. You'll be glad you did.
