36 FOUR SEASONS BREEZE | DECEMBER 2014 | CLUBS & GROUpS We had our November meeting on Election Day. In October we heard from Joan Nicholson, who is still working on a novel. We had also heard from Henry Roberts on linguistics and on publishing. This month he told us about two non- fiction books he's working on, one a kind of autobiography, and the other about home owners associations. Phil Jaffe brought a self-published book he wrote about his experience on a Coast Guard ice breaker in 1954, in which they cut through ice to realize the fabled Northwest Passage. He wants to do a new edition incorporating the history of ice breakers since their inception in the 19th century, and he asked our group for comments and suggestions. The Writers Club exists to aid and encourage writing projects, whether a poem, an article, or a whole book, non- fiction or fiction. We invite all current members to attend our meetings on the first Tuesday of each month. Usually we meet around a big table in the third part of the Ballroom at the Lodge. If you are not a member, but are interested in writing, we always welcome visitors and guests. On Dec. 2, at 1:30 pm, the Writers Club will meet again. Our current plan is to have a round-table discussion about what we want to write, and how we can accomplish those goals. ~ Phil Bond Writers' Club Classical Music Club Computer Interest Group We are classical music lovers with an interest in sharing our love, knowledge, and interest in classical music. We meet on the second Thursday of each month at 7 pm in the Conference Room. There we discuss current music performances. Most of the time is devoted to exploring a selection for the month. We welcome new members. Contact Steve Benoff at steve.benoff@verizon.net or (310) 413-4896. ~ Steve Benoff If you use a computer then you can enjoy all the benefits of being part of the new Four Seasons Computer Club (FSCC). We plan to have speakers who will teach you more about your computer, programs and applications. You can easily become more proficient about computer use, or you can just have more fun with what you already know. As a member of the FSCC you can share ideas and information with other members, learn from professional speakers, join special classes on apps and programs, learn more about smart phones, enjoy social gatherings with other members of the club, and more! The club will consist of computer users who will meet at least once a month. Plus there will be meetings of special interest groups. The purpose is to further improve common interests in computing by providing residents with information on computer training, hardware support, software support and cell phones. To help get started we are looking for teachers, speakers and club officers. If you have any of these skills then so indicate when you sign up at the Lodge front desk. The first meeting will be scheduled in January. For more information or questions, contact Phil Jaffe at philjaffe872@gmail.com. ~ Phil Jaffe
