6 FOUR SEASONS BREEZE | DECEMBER 2014 | COMMUNITy NEWS By Teri DiMarino-Davidson The winter holiday season in Four Seasons brings rich changes to our neighborhoods. There is crispness in the air and decorations begin to grace our lovely homes. While some residents find a great deal of pleasure in decorating more than others, there is one event that everyone can enjoy… The Four Seasons at Beaumont Holiday Home Tour. While still intended as a fund raiser for the Event Systems Committee, the Holiday Home Tour has become a much anticipated annual event, allowing residents to get a taste of what is possible in their own homes. This will be the fifth year for the Holiday Home Tour where a handful of gracious homeowners open their doors to the community and show off their homes and decorating talents. The tour is scheduled for Saturday, Dec. 13, and offers so much more than just the festive holiday decorations. While the elaborate Christmas decorations take precedence, it is a wonderful opportunity to appreciate what else residents have done in their homes to make them their own. While we all bought our homes "off the rack," many with builder options and upgrades, many people have modified their homes in many different ways. Custom décor, flooring, furnishings and artwork are just a few of the personal touches that can be seen in these homes. And while Garden Home Tours have taken place during the summer, the backyard landscaping in most of these holiday homes should not be missed, even at this time of year. The Holiday Home Tour is a wonderful time for new residents to see what can be done with the homes, as well as for seasoned residents looking to update or redecorate their homes. Tour homeowners are happy to talk about their Four Seasons' experiences with visitors. It's a great time to get ideas and concepts on design and décor as well as recommendations for contractors and other workers. Regular participants in these tours, Terry and Betty Fears, have opened their home for every Holiday Home Tour since its inception. The Fears' home is one of the highlights of the tour and they always have something new to show off. You will quickly recognize Terry's work, as he has been the decorator of the fireplace and the Holiday Tree in the Lodge. Terry and Betty have been collecting Christmas decorations and memorabilia for over 50 years and Terry's background as the Creative Director for Tommy Bahama, certainly is a big plus! They are proud of the fact that one of the many trees found in their home has over 1,000 hand-placed ornaments. Most of the homes on the tour go for traditional decorations, like the Christmas Village you will see at the home of Bill and Tanya Guy, to the lovely trees in Gene and Sandy Dwyer's home. But some homes have a diverse take on the holidays, like that of resident artist Abby Cameron and her husband, Lyle. Different color schemes that blend nicely with the home's artistic décor offer their own unique twist on the holidays. The tour is self-guided and admission to the homes is $5 per person. Wristbands and tour maps will go on sale the morning of the tour, Dec. 13, in the Lodge at 8 am. Homes are open from 10 am to 4 pm and no one is admitted without a wristband. For security reasons, each visitor must sign in to purchase a wristband and again as they enter each home. This tour is open to all residents of Four Seasons and their guests. While it is not open to the general public, we may see some potential residents from the sales office. Please, there are to be absolutely no children or pets permitted on the tour. The Holiday Home Tour has been a fun and profitable event for the Event Systems Committee. All the proceeds are funneled back to the community through the ESC, focusing on the upgrading and maintenance of the audio and visual equipment in the common areas of our community. While the closing date for applications to display your home has passed, you can make any inquiries by contacting the tour director, Teri DiMarino- Davidson at k9styler@aol.com or call at (951) 769-4345.
