46 FOUR SEASONS BREEZE | DECEMBER 2014 | SpORTS & OUTDOOR ACTIVITIES Racquet Club It is getting colder and we have our friend the wind back. Times for winter are in place at the Lodge and in the Breeze. We now have open play (club time - anyone come have fun at 9 am Tues., Thurs., Sat.). All other times you should reserve a court at the front desk and organize your people to come play. Too many or too few people make it difficult. It feels good to get out there and move around in the cooler air. Hope to see you there! Marty Key (951) 331-0817, keeksmail@yahoo. com. ~ Marty Key Pickleball Our Annual Dinner Meeting was a huge success, with 48 members and guests in attendance. The Ballroom was decorated with vintage tennis racquets and center pieces of glass towers filled with used tennis balls. Vintage tennis players wore name tags because everybody looks different in clothes, street clothes that is. Committee President Irve Sturner recapped the Club's 2014 year, citing the Club's good financial position with thanks to Treasurer Barb Miller, the monthly Play Days organized by Romy Villena, accurate record keeping and meeting minutes by Howard Lyon, and superb journalism by yours truly, Steve Hovey. Irve also reminded us that the courts were resurfaced this year and the permanent shade structure was installed. Of course, he also extolled the benefits of Club membership, which includes not only the annual dinner meeting but also two other hosted lunch events and the opportunity to play social matches with our neighbors at Sun Lakes. The evening was made extra special with the awarding of drawing prizes to nearly everyone in attendance. Thanks to the talents and generosity of our members, over 40 drawing prizes went home with happy winners. Prizes included delicious cookies baked by Bernadette Martin, owner of Sweetcakes418, Temecula Valley wines donated by Howard and Louise Lyon, professionally made graphics products from Howard Levine and Irve, racquet strings donated by Romy, and many other items provided by Club members to make it a memorable evening to celebrate the 2014 year and to initiate the 2015 year. Dues paying members received their 2015 sticker to update their name badges. Some of us are still trying to get the little back thingy off of the adhesive sticker. With the new tennis year under way, Four Seasons residents are reminded that we host open play on the last Saturday of every month, giving both club members and non-member residents the opportunity to play social tennis with a lot of nice folks with a wide range of ability levels. The Thursday night mixed doubles matches will not be held in December because of the holidays and the likelihood of cold weather. Many members will be sporting great looking tennis togs adorned with a beautifully redesigned FSBRC logo created by Irve Sturner. Irve has arranged for the logo to be embroidered on shirts, warm-ups, hats, blouses, just about any garment a sharp-looking tennis player could want for a modest cost. ~ Steven Hovey Service • Repair • Installation Or Just Call for a Second Opinion! 100% Satisfaction Guaranteed! 951 849-4938 Licensed • Bonded • Insured • Lic. #957503 Pacific Heating & air conditioning Heating or a/C tune-up Call for 4 SeaSonS SpeCial!
