CoMMunIty news | sun lakes lIfestyles | deCeMBeR 2014 | 47 Sun Lakes Residents Thank you to everyone who supported us buying Buddy Biscuits, donations of handmade items for the craft fair and money donations. We will now be able to buy misters for the kennels and use the kennels during the summertime. We will also be purchasing a filter so calcification does not build up in the tubing and sprayers. Our newest rescue is sweet little Darby. She was found by gate 3, no tags, no microchip. We checked Petco and Banning Vet and the stores to see if anyone had lost a dog. We also posted it on Channel 97. We have to keep her for 30 days to see if her owner shows up. I took her to Banning Vet to get her first set of shots and a healthy stamp of approval. She stayed at my home for two weeks. I was able to get her use to being around someone that cared about her and didn't run away every time I came near her. She loved playing with my dog Bailey. They would play for hours. Then I was able put her in the kennels after getting her used to people. Our Kennel Keepers Sandy Burgon, Karen Vanelli, Marianne Kneass kept her fed, clean bed, and loved. One of our members Lois Osterlein, who was on the list for possible adoption for her grandchildren, visited Darby everyday at the kennels. The family came on the weekends to play with Darby. In the meantime we agreed that they could foster her until adoption day came. Our committee agreed that they would be the best fit for Darby, especially since they have a 10 year old boy and another dog to play with. She is very happy in Redlands and enjoying her new family and living on an acre of land. Darby will be having a very Merry Christmas with her new family. Have a very Blessed Christmas and a Healthy New Year! Info., Lori Hutchins, 845-2125. epap aniMal rescue Cars have changed.
