From The President – Henry Negrete: Each golf season is very similar to past seasons. We play golf and entertain our members with feature functions. The club pretty much operates on autopilot. At least, that's what most members assume. We all know a board of directors guides our club. The board is made up of members of our club who have volunteered their services to serve in a leadership role. In turn, some board members are traditionally faced with a variety of duties and an abundance of work while others appear to be duty free and function in a limited capacity. Bottom line, all board members are stepping in to the limelight fully aware that time and effort are required along the way and there are no big bucks to be had. On the other hand we have members of our club that perform a variety of duties without obligating themselves to a position on the board. These club members become available as the need arises and specifically when our club is hosting special events. Some come forth to perform a one-time function while others support similar events during the year. These members are what carry our club each season. They are not looking for recognition and they certainly don't want attention. They are excellent, well-qualified members and find personal satisfaction in supporting our club membership. Unfortunately, each year we fail to recognize these individuals. In part for fear that we will forget or ignore others. We move forward without giving some of these folks at minimum an "ATTA-BOY." So, with that in mind, I will bite the bullet and acknowledge four members of our club who I most certainly feel are worthy of recognition. Our number one honoree Blair Becker, along with three others, was recognized at our fall banquet. In my humble opinion Blair has served us well for years and has given us much needed love. Two others are Kelly Collier and Eddie Day. These two gentlemen don't need instruction, direction or supervision. Simply mention the task at hand, get out of their way and allow them to take care of business. No complaints and no BS. The fourth member of this group is Jay Robinson. Who, in their right mind can ignore what Jay has done for our club this year? He not only lit the torch but carried the torch for a new and amazing concept – MARSHALLING!! I realize we had a handful of volunteers help with this program but none served the program with such vigor and enthusiasm as Jay Robinson – from birth to fruition. To these four members, I thank you from the bottom of my heart. "ATTA-BOYS" to all.
