11 | Four Seasons Hemet Herald | DECEMBER 2014 | Crumbs from Cookie: How can it possibly be time to wish you a Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays? It's still summer here! December will have us sponsoring the Holiday Program with the beautiful Vintage Voices. We invite all residents to come and not just enjoy, but bring baked goodies to share. I, for one, am always excited to see what kind of cupcakes Cathy Brunetto will bring! Each year she out does herself. I don't know who, but someone bakes the best lemon bars in Four Seasons. I hope they are reading this and plan to bring some. We look forward to seeing all of you. The front desk has gathered information on equipment that can be borrowed from homeowners. We have also had a list that provides equipment for residents' needs. We have now turned over our list to add to their list and it will be much easier to ask at the front desk what's available. Need a wheelchair or walker for a bit? Just stop by the desk for information. Our admin team has redone the Sunshine Bulletin Board in the Multipurpose Room. Take time to check it out. It may provide just the information that you are looking for. It is located just above the prayer box requests table. I need to take a moment to ask for your help in keeping the Sunshine table clear of any items not related to prayer requests. There are prayer request cards with envelopes provided for privacy and only Marietta removes them. Sunshine is not privy to the information. A month ago we looked to the table and you couldn't see what was there. Please, the BOD purchased the table for the prayer box. Please respect what the table stands for and keep it clear. Thanks. This month I want to talk about Margie Culton. She will be filling my shoes come June. The whole team makes us successful but Margie is a very special part of the team. We had a very short time to arrange a Celebration of Life this Monday. I called Margie Sunday and said I need help can you be here tomorrow? Then I said, "Margie, her favorite color was pink". Margie gathered pink flowers from her home and used pink from the back room to decorate the tables. She also made cookies and pink cupcakes. This is not a small thing. This is part of honoring the death of a loved one. When the family walks in and sees pink everywhere it enters their hearts. When we have a personal table Margie arranges all the items to give everyone a sense of who they were. I love you Margie and cannot thank you enough for your kindness and caring. Sunshine will be in good hands. We were surprised and honored to receive a donation to Sunshine from the Blue Thong Club and also the Guitar Club. We want to thank both clubs for their kindness. Last month it was a smaller newsletter. There were no deaths that we were aware of. I am sorry to say it is not so this month. Woody Lane lost his beloved Shirley Schiavo in October. A picture and bio was placed in the Lodge to honor Shirley. A celebration of her life will be held in her hometown at a later date. We send our love and sympathy to you Woody. Sunshine Team member, Priscilla Hieber, lost her daughter (Marianne) in a tragic car accident. Our hearts were broken. We send our love and sympathy to you. Miriam Miller lost her daughter, Melissa, in October as well. Melissa leaves behind two young children, one five years old and one 16 months old. We held a celebration of life in the Ballroom to honor her. Her sister, Pam Miller, helped set everything up. We send our love and sympathy to all. We want to thank the Miller family for a donation in Melissa's honor. Cathy Sims lost her mother in October. We send Chuck and Cathy our love and sympathies as well. Also, Anne Triche Steen lost her husband, John, in October. We send our sympathies and love to Anne. May rays of sunshine help you heal. Alice Skillern lost her great-grandson at about 13 days old. He was such a beautiful baby. We send our love and sympathies to you and your family. For those of you who have suffered a loss that we are unaware of, we send our love and sympathies to you and your families. May rays of sunshine help you heal. Tidbits from Donna: Dec. 8 - 14 is National Influenza Vaccination Week. An annual flu vaccine is the single best way to prevent this serious illness. Get yours now! Website: www.cdc.gov/flu Please fill out a *NEEDS* Form at the Lodge Front Desk if you know of someone who needs assistance. Also, if you have knowledge of a friend or neighbor who is living alone, please let them know of the Healthy Elder Life Program (888)983-5337. They will assist in many ways, including daily phone calls. Also, our bulletin board in the Multipurpose Room has current contact and resource information.
