We welcome you to the Four Seasons community library. Our residents keep us up to date with new and older fiction hardbound books. Our non-fiction section is filled with biographies and a broad range of interesting topics. Check out the travel section on the bottom shelves. Many of you have added to our new topic! We thank you. And, please remember, we never accept technical books and actually the downtown library doesn't accept them either. The first paragraph was written six months ago. I probably mention it every other month. We have had a huge influx of very, very old paperbacks and even encyclopedias. This occurred after the swap meet at Four Seasons. Please, we are volunteers, this is not a job with pay for us. There have been so many trips needed to Hemet library and the encyclopedia types were just recycled. Be a responsible resident. Donate your books either to bookstores or the Hemet library. We thank you. Our magazine rack holds three months of donated material. As of this writing please bring, October, November and December. After reading them please be sure to return them for others to read. We have had a tremendous amount of new types of magazines lately. Keep them coming! We currently accept paperback books from 2010-2014. At times we can hardly fit another book in and the next day it is so empty looking. Someone is donating lots of oversized paperbacks dated 2013. Thank you so much. Many of them are very manly. Make sure you check out the far right side of the paperback cabinet. For information about other areas please refer to our library directory next to our return box. The library committee is comprised of residents who enjoy reading and have a desire to keep our 55+ library in order. We all enjoy working there and ask that you please let us do our job. Please don't put your books away, let us do our job. We need one or two more library volunteers. Are you at our library a lot and just love reading? We are a fun group that works hard at keeping the library looking nice. We have formal meetings once a month except for summer. If this sounds good please ask for a volunteer form at the front desk. We look forward to having you join our team. It's hard to believe that we are wishing everyone at Four Seasons a joyous holiday season already. I wore my first sweater yesterday! Remember, you will need quiet time to fully enjoy this season so slip into the library and grab a book. You have a fantastic library! Committee member Kay was in charge of a book report this month. This month's book report deviates from the usual fiction books as I want to tell you about a book by Katie Couric called The Best Advice I Ever Got. Even though I am old and don't listen to people's advice anymore, I admit to having read this book twice (not all at once - always in bits). It is because of the inspiring and motivating stories contributed by a diverse range of 100+ best known American personalities. There are fascinating tales of how people became who they are and the advice they received. Yes, I learned from Drew Brees, Maria Shriver, Colin Powell, Joyce Carol Oates, & Matthew McConaughey, just to name a few. Of course, every book review needs a teaser to get someone to open the book so you will want to read this book to find out why Jimmy Kimmel advised: "When in doubt, order the hamburger."
