OUR YUCAIPA | JANUARY 2015 13 Chinese Seafood Restaurant celebrated their grand opening with a ribbon cutting event on Wed., Dec. 3. Mayor Denise Hoyt was present along with city Councilman David Avila and Chamber Ambassadors. They were treated to a delicious buffet of freshly prepared Chinese food. Ribbon Cutting Liz Mercer, owner of Sublime Designs for Hair and Home, hosted December's Small and Home- based Business breakfast at her business located at 12145 5th Street. Liz presented tips on how to market your business during the holidays and explained how social media has really boosted her sales. She also provided a delicious breakfast buffet, games and prizes. Various chamber members host the monthly Small and Home-based Business breakfast at their business providing members the opportunity to network and learn about the various aspects of running a business. The breakfasts are held on the first Thursday of the month and are free to chamber members. Reservations are suggested, please call the chamber for more details. Please join the Yucaipa Chamber Board of Directors in welcoming Amy Minjares as our new President/CEO. Amy joins us with an impressive resume and a solid work ethic. Amy comes to us from Habitat for Humanity in the San Gorgonio Pass area where she was the executive director. She began as a volunteer and was then offered a position as the office manager. She was then promoted to the role of Executive Director for the affiliate. While at Habitat for Humanity, Amy was responsible for all of the accounting duties, marketing and community outreach, coordinating special events, social media and website management. She has developed skills in volunteer management and grant writing. Amy has strong relationships with local, state and federal government agencies as well. Amy said, "I am looking forward to working with the staff and the Board as I begin my new journey with the Yucaipa Valley Chamber of Commerce as their President/CEO. I am excited to continue the partnership with the City of Yucaipa and growing the chamber relationships with new and existing businesses in the community." Amy is married with two adult children.
