OUR YUCAIPA | JANUARY 2015 5 By Stacey Parr Spend the Night and Finish the Fight! We Walk All Night Because Cancer Never Sleeps! It's difficult to find anyone whose life has not been impacted by cancer. Join the quest for a cure by being a part of the Yucaipa Relay for Life 2015 on April 18 and 19 at Yucaipa High School. We want this year to be better than ever! Yucaipa is such an amazing town that we should not have a problem coming together as a community and showing our support to the American Cancer Society. Our Official Kickoff is Wed. Jan. 14 at 6 pm in the Yucaipa High School Multipurpose Room. Everyone is welcome to attend and help us celebrate our official kickoff for this season. If you are a returning relayer, a business that is interested in helping, or someone who would like to be involved but aren't quite sure what is involved… please attend this meeting. You can register and start a team at www.relayforlife.org/yucaipaca We have an opportunity for everyone that would like to participate. Here are a few things that we are looking for: Survivors: We invite anybody who has ever fought cancer to please join us. Cancer survivors kick off the Relay with an honorary lap where they receive little gifts from each team. They are also treated to a complimentary breakfast and lunch provided by our generous sponsors. Sponsors: We offer all levels of sponsorship. From a Signature Sponsor to a Platinum Sponsor, your business can support the American Cancer Society and the Yucaipa Relay for Life. If you would rather donate goods or services we would happily accept In-Kind gifts as well. Team Captains: Recruit your friends, family members, and co-workers and ask them to join you in the fight. Don't worry, you won't go it alone… if you are new and would like to form a team, there is a great support system to get you started. The first step is to register and we will help you from there. Volunteers: We will not turn you away. We are looking for anyone that would like to help with fundraising, sponsorship, online and social communications, registration, entertainment, accounting, activities, and logistics. We need help to make this successful and we would love you to join us. Challenge: My challenge for all the sports teams (high school, rec, club…any team possible), cheerleaders, service clubs, elementary schools, middle schools, high school, academies, theaters, businesses, chamber of commerce members, city officials, gyms, restaurants, and anyone else I may not have mentioned… let's join together and show everyone how Yucaipa represents!
