11 | Four Seasons Hemet Herald | January 2015 | Crumbs from Cookie: How can we be talking about our end-of-year Holiday Program, sponsored by Sunshine, and welcoming in the year 2015 already? The Lodge was so festive and full of good cheer. The Holiday Celebration is pure joy to sponsor. I had the pleasure of welcoming you and then getting to relax and enjoy my Christmas program! The Vintage Voices were wonderful and in tune under the guidance of Ross Brunetto. We thank those of you who brought goodies to share and a special thank you to Cathy Brunetto for all those fabulous cupcakes! This has been a full year for the Sunshine Club. Our first, and primary, role is to be there for our residents in times of need. If you wish to have a Celebration of Life, we will assist you in all ways to try and remove as much stress from you as possible. It doesn't need to be formal at the Ballroom. We had a few "home" memorials as well that are warm and loving. There is never a right or wrong way to go through grief. Some don't want Sunshine to visit and that's okay as well. The important part is to know that our team is made up of women who want to help. We honestly feel that we receive much more than we give. Please let the front desk know of any passing or call us directly: Cookie Scott or Donna Holland. Secondly, we work hard to provide great programs for the community. The third Wednesday of each month will find the Ballroom buzzing with Sunshine members welcoming our guest speakers. The success of this depends completely on attendance. This year has been a complete success! Thank you Four Seasons! Our Health Fair was another huge success and you asked us to repeat it yearly. We will have another in May. Some of the programs were hard to listen to. Actually just one about "having that talk" with your family was not well attended but the information was so important. For those of us who came, it was very helpful. We are having our annual nonagenarian celebration in January. Please bring family members, neighbors and friends that are in their 90s. There will be a birthday cake and I hear a clown or two will be there. The program will be about laughter, the more we have the longer we can live. Please look at the picture of Sunshine's luncheon to honor Judy Bailey for the tie purses she creates for the widows. Both Judy and the tie purses are amazing. They mean so much to the widows. It's an honor to know you, Judy. Once again we have had sadness at Four Seasons. Debbie Nosches lost her beloved husband, Jim, in November. We send Debbie our love and sympathies. Joan Atkinson lost her husband, Ellis, in November as well. Those of us who walked our dogs on the paseo in the Legends always had the pleasure of Ellis passing out doggie treats. We send Joan our love and sympathies. Paul Cucuclic lost his beloved wife, Barbara, in November as well. We send Paul our love and sympathies. Our committee member, Jackie Peterson, lost her sister in November as well. Jackie was able to be by her side in MN for her passing. We send Jackie our love and sympathies. We were saddened to hear that Fred Reno recently lost his son. We send both Fred and Dee our love and sympathies. Ellen Walsh sadly lost her sister and then a cousin the very next day. We send Ellen and Don our love and sympathies. We send our love and sympathies to Ross and Cathy Brunetto who recently lost a great-grandchild. Many residents are going through the holidays without their spouse for the first time. If a neighbor or friend lost someone this year, please check with them to see how they are doing. Invite them to lunch and ask how they are. Tidbits from Donna: January is Glaucoma Awareness Month!
