The demonstrator for this month is Andre Lohnert who will show us techniques in portraiture, using charcoal. Andre will also let us know details about his upcoming oil classes in January and February which are listed below. Four Seasons Art League The Gallery at the Lodge: Our exhibition at the Lodge will include Andre Lohnert's paintings on the Gallery Wall and David Balser's trains and scenery in the display case. David has been building model railroads for over 50 years and some of the items which will be shown in the cabinet are locomotives, buildings and rolling stock used in layouts which were built in his garage. Enjoy the exhibition! Upcoming Workshops: Andre will offer two workshops in oil painting, the first being on the weekend of Jan. 17 and 18 and is for beginners and intermediate students. This class will concentrate on developing oil painting techniques as applied to a small still-life study. The second workshop will be given during the weekend of Feb. 14 and 15 and involves the students learning how to execute a successful portrait likeness in oil paints. Lois Stipp: 1. " Color" workshop on Sat., Jan. 24 from 10 am to 2 pm 2. "Jewelry-Beading" workshop on Sat., Feb. 21 from 10 am to12 pm There is a $10 fee per class. Jan. 21, 10 am to 12 pm in the Arts and Crafts Room. In this session, Howard will cover "The Three Cs" in taking good photos Camera, Composition and Contrast. Please bring your camera and two or three of your own photographs. There is NO fee for this workshop. Questions will be answered in class. Our talented and experienced teachers offer many classes including acrylics, tole painting, tatting, memoir writing, watercolor, drawing, oils, calligraphy and more. Our Featured Artist: Andre Lohnert For more than 40 years, Andre Lohnert has been involved with different aspects of art as a painter, sculptor, printmaker, museum curator and art conservator. After moving to the United States in 1983, he opened a studio in Long Beach and later in Laguna Beach, at which time, Andre concentrated on restoring paintings of the Old Masters as well as making his own art. He has held numerous one-man exhibitions in Southern California and overseas. His paintings and sculptures are in private and corporate collections in the United States and abroad.
