Now we have to learn to write a new number for the year, too. Be patient with yourselves. Writing a new number takes a bit of time – something like becoming accustomed to a change from Daylight Saving to standard time again. The body adjusts slowly… LIBRARY BOOKS The librarians at the Lodge would like to remind us all to locate the Four Seasons library books which you may have taken home to read. The books need to be returned to the library so they can be included in the library-wide reorganization which is starting in January. Begin the year with a resolve to return your books when you finish reading them. Having our own library in the Lodge is a privilege; we need to respect it and remember to share pages responsibly. WATER SAVINGS Four Seasons is committed to saving as much water as possible. We know we can only water our plants two days a week, unless we are using drip irrigation. It would be a good idea if you find various ways which work to save water in your household, to share them with the rest of us. For example, I have discovered that I can use the water in the dogs' bowl, which is changed one or two times a day, to help hydrate the few plants in the yard. I simply store the "stale" water in a watering can and use it when necessary. If you have water-saving tips, please send them to the Communications Committee and we will be sure the ideas are disseminated. SENIOR SCAMS We seem to have a new spate of scams being played against our senior population. The current one involves someone calling claiming to be a male grandchild who needs money to get out of jail or clear an accident claim. We had "the" call a few weeks ago and I took the phone from my husband, who was clearly concerned but did not know what to do about it. We have numerous grandsons as well as great-grandsons, so I began to ask questions such as: "And your name is? And your birthday is?" The caller realized that the scam did not work and quickly hung up. I reported it to the Beaumont Police who said they are primarily concerned if you actually send money to the person on the phone. The Beaumont Police Department, however, would like you to report an attempted scam on the non-emergency line (951) 769-8500, just because they want residents to know that the Police Department is there for us. BOARD UPDATE At the Open Session of the BOD December meeting, General Manager Jeri Mupo announced that Director Kevin Metcalf will be available at 12:45 pm before each Open Session to provide information to homeowners regarding construction updates. Residents are asked to submit questions for the K. Hovnanian Director by Tuesday before the meeting. REC CENTER NORTh The old sales office, the Recreation Center North, will undergo interior remodeling starting in the next week or so. The plan is to have the building completed by sometime in February. Thought for the day: If at first you don't succeed, skydiving is not for you.
