SPORTS & OUTDOOR ACTIVITIES | FOUR SEASONS BREEZE | JANUARY 2015 45 Our members all share the joy of riding. There are several forms of riding; from short local trips to day long excursions to multi-day adventures. There are several types of motorcycles on which to enjoy those rides; from short range sport bikes to full on touring machines. For such a small group of riders here at Four Seasons we have folks who like different types of riding and different types of bikes. We have an eclectic collection of motorcycles representing several manufacturers and styles of machines. Here is a partial list of our regular riders and their bikes: Ron Morgan has a "Can-Am." This is a three wheeled machine. They don't fall over at stop signs and are well suited for both short and long distance riding with lots of storage and comfort. Howard Lyon has a BMW K1600GTL. This is a "touring" machine. Lots of storage and comfort. Dan Lanphere has a Triumph "Trophy." This is a "sport touring" machine. Storage, comfort and pep! Bob Howard has a Victory "Cross Country." This is a "bagger" cruiser/touring machine. Steve Sarchett has a Yamaha "Raider." A 113 Cubic inch "cruiser." Joe Ligori has a Honda "Valkyrie" this week. He changes motorcycles on a rather regular basis so we all enjoy seeing what he is riding this week. The Valkyrie is a six cylinder beast. Steve Bennett has a Yamaha FJR1300. This is a Sport Tourer. Harley Davidson, and its various models, is well represented by Rob Jack, Rick Brower, Bob Jones, Mark Lassen, Gordon Shepard and Leonard Peck. The Harleys range from small sport models to full on "baggers." So you can see that if you like motorcycling you will fit right in with this varied group of riders and machines. Come on out to our next meeting and say hello. We meet on the first Wednesday of each month at 6 pm in the Lodge Ballroom. We generally try to ride each Thursday. Some days fare or just a short breakfast or lunch ride. Some days are full day rides to local sights or events. Most Thursdays we leave the Lodge at 9 am and return to Four Seasons in midafternoon. We invite all riding enthusiasts to come join us for some motorcycle camaraderie and sight-seeing on the Thursday rides. ~ Howard Lyon Motorcycle Club Our monthly trip is always the third Thursday of every month. We meet in the north parking lot of the Lodge at 8 am. We did not take a trip in August because so many members were out of town; however three of the members were camping in Big Bear with the RV group. We spent two days riding the trails. One trail took us to the homestead of William Holcomb. His daughter was the first child born in the Big Bear area. William Holcomb also was the first person to discover gold in Holcomb Valley which resulted in the gold rush of the 1860s. We also explored the John Bull Trail which we discovered is a little too extreme for our vehicles, and we had to turn back. Anyone who has a four-wheel drive vehicle is welcome. Most of the trips are on state service trails designated as four-wheel drive. We do not do extreme off-roading. If you do not own a four-wheel drive vehicle, you are more than welcome to ride along. Call Bob Cooper to make arrangements, or with club questions, at (951) 769-6352. ~ Bob Cooper 4x4 Seasons
