38 FOUR SEASONS BREEZE | JANUARY 2015 | CLUBS & GROUPS We are continuing informal social evenings. We hope this will allow as many of our LGBT neighbors and friends, and their friends, to get together with us. Our next social will be on Thursday, Jan. 29 at 6 pm. Let's congregate at Smitty's and we can then determine whether outdoors on the patio will be plausible (there are heaters there if the wind is not too bad). We have also reserved the Board Room for that time as well in case we need to move indoors. Please order whatever dinner items you wish and then enjoy each other's company and conversation while having dinner. Should you wish to enjoy your own beverages, please feel free to bring whatever you desire. If you have any questions, please call/email Dale at (951) 797-0364 or dale.beckes@gmail. com; or Barbara at (951) 845-6246 or bamerton@alumni.ucla. edu. ~ Dale Beckes Rainbow Group We worked hard on the holiday program and now we will be taking a break from January to March, 2015. Mark your calendars today! ~ Cindy Graves TOPS Karaoke The Bereavement Group has concluded the four week break and will resume meeting Jan. 19. Coincidentally, Jan. 19 is Martin Luther King, Jr. Day. This day of remembrance is an annual event, on the third Monday of every January. It is interesting that as a nation we openly grieve and memoralize the loss of a person who has been important to our country, yet as individuals we so often do just the opposite. As a nation we display our myriad feelings, talk about the immense loss, talk about how this person changed so many lives, openly remember him every single year. Yet too frequently as individuals, we feel ashamed of our grief. "What's wrong with me?" or others ask, "don't you think you should be over it by now?" as if there is a timeline to adhere to. So we clam up, hide our feelings and tears even from family and close friends, and soldier on, privately wondering why life is so bleak and if "this" will ever end. If you have experienced loss and think you might want to feel free to cry, talk, laugh, rage, sit quietly, express yourself openly in a safe environment, then come join us. We will welcome you. We meet Mondays from 1 to 3 pmin the Lodge Crafts Room. Just show up, or you may call at (951) 922-0934 or email to lauriemlarson425@gmail.com. All contact is confidential. ~ Laurie Larson Bereavement Group
