If you could have a conversation with anyone, who would it be? We have pondered this point from time to time and concluded that one choice would be "They." Think about it. "They" is a magical being. It can transform itself from male to female or be singular or plural. "They" can be here or anywhere at the same time. "They" can be in the past or in the future in the same breath. "They" can be uplifting or a pain in the tush. "They" can be destructive or beneficial, kind or unkind depending on the motive or one's perspective. "They" seem to be all knowing, since "They" espouse wisdom regularly. Stated differently, "You know what they say!" Yes, we would like to have a conversation with "They" and gather unto ourselves their infinite knowledge. However, "They" typically reside on a slippery slope, and usually vanish when it is time to walk the talk! Within our community there is another type of "They" and it is "us," sometimes called "we." We have plenty of opportunities to voice our opinions about the management of our Association, and soon "we" will be offered the chance to act upon them. The year 2015 represents a new milestone for Four Seasons. We now go forward with a Board comprised entirely of homeowners, and each year is now an election year. Soon our Ad Hoc Nominations Committee will be reconvened and a call for candidates will go out to our community. For the slate of 2015 there will be three openings. Service on your Board should not be taken lightly. Deciding to become a candidate is not simply a matter of tossing your hat in the ring, but rather should emanate from a thoughtful consideration of what you can bring in service to your community. In this regard, it is critical to the continued well being of our Association that candidates bring certain attributes to the table. First, and foremost, is the ability to objectively apply solid business management principles and practices to all matters brought before the Board. There is no room for personal agendas. Equally important is the ability to work well with others. Although not a requirement, prior work experience within the community, e.g., service on committees is an asset. Candidates must also be prepared to give of their time, which can be extensive. The term of service is two years. Having said all of this, the door of opportunity will soon open. Our HOA is a legally constituted multi- million dollar corporation. The mission of the Board of Directors is to preserve, enhance and protect the Association and its assets. Please be an active participant in the governance of your Four Seasons community by giving due consideration to this all important process. Thank you. Sincerely, and on behalf of your Board, Tony, Greg, Ken, Ross & Russ.
