February Monday Morning Art Class: Cherry Valley artist Suni will
instruct in watercolor on Feb. 2, 9, 16 and 23 in the Main Clubhouse Art

Introducing Kathleen Scoggin, Watermedia Artist (website:
kathleenscoggin.com). Kathleen Scoggin, highly acclaimed Coachella
Valley artist, will be the guest artist at the Art League's meeting Feb. 15.
She will introduce the art classes that she will be teaching March 2, 9,
16 and 30 and demonstrate some of the techniques she finds useful. In
case you feel intimidated by the complexity of her painting (pictured),
relax, as Kathy encourages students to start with a basic design and
then 'do whatever feels good.' She will be bringing some of her own
sketches for student experimentation and encourages freedom in the
individual's work.
Scenes from nature inspire Kathy's work, and the images she paints
represent the beauty and closeness to nature that she feels and wants
to record. She enjoys creating her own interpretation of the scene by
adding unusual colors that add atmosphere and help the viewer see
and be aware of the electrifying beauty of nature.
Kathy has juried and judged exhibitions at the Palm Springs Art
Museum, Coachella Valley Watercolor Society annual show and Plein
Air Art Show, Riverside County Date Festival and Pacific Northwest
Plein Air Show, and exhibited at Palm Desert Visitors Center, Lake
Oswego Festival of the Arts and many other locations. She is a board
member of the Coachella Valley Watercolor Society and a member of
the Palm Springs Artists' Council.
Kathy has a friendly, outgoing personality that thrives in helping
students achieve their goals. We are indeed fortunate to have her
