IRS SCAM: PLEASE TAKE NOTE. There is a new scam going around where a "representative" from the IRS calls and asks to visit your home, or seeks money over the phone for back taxes/delinquent taxes. If you receive a call like this, please be careful. The IRS will only contact in writing under official letter head. Please beware. BEWARE! Four Minutes That Can Save Lives Every day, seven days a week, at 11:50 am our own Channel 97 is showing a four minute instructional video on the newest "hands only" method of performing CPR. The new life saving procedure replaces the former "mouth to mouth" technique. We urge you to watch this important video. Hopefully, you may never experience a situation which calls for using CPR, but if such an emergency occurs watching this short video will prepare you to come to the aid of an individual experiencing a heart attack. 2015 Annual Meeting of the Membership & Election Of Directors The Sun Lakes Country Club Homeowners Association Annual Meeting of the Membership and Election of Directors is Wed., April 8, in the Main Clubhouse Ballroom. There will be two open positions on the Board. Each newly elected director will serve a two-year term. Any homeowner interested in running for a position on the Board should fill out a Board Candidacy Form, available in the administration office beginning Fri., Feb. 6. Candidacy forms must be returned no later than 5 pm on Wed., Feb. 25. The Inspector of Election will review each candidacy form it receives and place all eligible candidates on the ballot. Two "Meet the Candidates" forums will be conducted. The first forum will be held on Mon., March 9 at 6 pm and the second forum will be held on Tues., March 10 at 10 am. Both forums will be in the Main Clubhouse Ballroom. The Member of Record date is Fri., Feb. 20. Ballots will be mailed out on Fri., March 6. It's that time of the year. The election for the members of the Board of Directors will take place in a couple of months. There are two positions open this year. This is one of the most important obligations each homeowner has while living in our senior community. By electing fellow residents to the Board of Directors, we place a burden on them to take care of our lives at Sun Lakes. Before you cast your vote, attend a "Meet the Candidates" forum on March 9 or 10. It is necessary for you to hear the candidates articulate their position on current topics. It is important to realize the candidates do not have to be lawyers, accountants, CPAs or have some other kind of professional background. If a candidate has common sense and good judgment, he or she will be well equipped to handle the job of being a board member. A good portion of a board member's time is spent in research and studying the subject at hand. That is where common sense and good judgment comes in, making decisions based on their findings and beliefs in their conclusions. It is paramount that board members appreciate the positions and opinions of other members and all of them talk things through to reach conclusions and decisions. When boards cannot negotiate with each other and find common ground, our entire complex is at risk. There is no worse situation than to have board members at odds and not willing to work out to an acceptable decision for all parties. Throughout the years we have been very fortunate to have board members who worked together for one common end — the benefit of our community. Sun Lakes Country Club is the size of many towns across the United States having some 6,000 residents living in 3,327 homes with assets totaling close to $40 million dollars. An annual budget of $10 million dollars demands common sense and good judgment. Much thought and study must go into the preparing of the budget and making sure each dollar is spent wisely. The Board of Directors should remember that each dollar comes from the homeowners who expect our total complex to be looked after. There are many talented residents who would make excellent board members. Please consider running for office and offering your help to the community. Candidacy forms are available on Feb. 6 at the administration office and are to be returned by Feb. 25. The annual election date is April 8.
