Wine and Romance… they often go hand in hand. Cupid claims serious turf when it comes to wine and romance. Taste d' Vine Wine Club is excited to bring you an evening of "Wines for Lovers" featuring exciting bubbly and sparkling wines at our February meeting on the third Thursday, Feb. 19, 6 pm in the Ballroom. Bring an appetizer such as bread or crackers and cheese, your own favorite bottle of wine if you wish, and a glass or two for tasting and sharing. Members $5, guests $10. ~ Gracy Luna Last year, the Recreation Center North (RCN) Ad Hoc committee and the Board of Directors approved a plan to remodel the RCN. The plan included establishment of an office area for co-location of the Communications Team with the Emergency Preparedness Committee's (EPC) Incident Commander. As construction began last month on this project, the Four Seasons Amateur Radio Club initiated action to develop a proposal to equip the office with necessary communications gear and provide a recommendation on room layout for approval by the EPC, the Safety and Facilities Committee, the Finance Committee and finally the Board of Directors. Development of the proposal was assigned to a committee composed of Radio Club members. Several meetings have been held to determine basic requirements. A completed proposal could be ready for presentation as soon as the next EPC meeting in February. The committee's goal is to have an operational communications center in place by mid-May this year. Having a communications center greatly augments our ability to provide emergency services to the Four Seasons community and quick response to emergencies, especially when time is of the essence. As currently envisioned, the Center would provide the Four Seasons community with a relatively inexpensive, robust emergency communications capability on local, regional and national radio frequencies that would integrate well with current EPC actions and plans. We'll have more information on this project in March so stay tuned. Visit our website: W6FSB.COM; we meet in the Lodge at 10 am on the last Friday of the month. ~ Dick Van Bree 28 FOUR SEASONS BREEZE | FEBRUARY 2015 | CLUBS & GROUPS Do you have little or no knowledge of the Spanish language and want to learn "survival Spanish" for personal use? Consider joining our Beginning Spanish class which starts this month and will meet every Tuesday of the month (except the third Tuesday) at 6 pm. We meet for an hour and a half. This class, taught by Four Seasons resident Jan White, will run from the first Tuesday in February until the end of April. There are two beginning Spanish offerings on Tuesday — one in the morning and this one in the evening. So when you sign up, be certain you note the time of day. You will find a sign-up sheet for this evening class in the lodge. Call Jan at (951) 797-3700 if you have questions. ~ Jan White Spanish Class Amateur Radio Club Taste d'Vine Amphitheater February finds everyone well into activities for the new year, and the Amphitheater Production Group is no exception. The planning process for this year's Summer Sunday Evening Concert series began the last few months of 2014. Penny McDonell, the chairman for the past six years, has done a masterful job of finding talent and organizing the details and personnel needed for a successful concert. She has passed the baton of chairman to Mark Lassen, and she remains a vital component of the committee. Mark is a new resident to our community and has stepped in with energy and enthusiasm. Once a month, May through September, concerts are held under the stars. It is a wonderful venue in which to listen to music under our summer evening skies, and gives everyone an opportunity to socialize with friends and neighbors prior to the opening musical notes. Our Four Seasons Amphitheater is located between the tennis and paddle ball courts and can accommodate about 125 people. The concert dates for the summer of 2015 are May 17, June 28, July 19, Aug. 16 and Sept. 20. So mark your calendar and we will see you at the concert. ~ Doris SanFilippo
