We're planning informal social evenings in the winter. We hope this will allow as many of our LGBT neighbors and friends, and their friends, to get together with us. We're combining a social evening with Smitty's dinner around 6 pm, and you can enjoy your own beverages. Keep an eye on the Breeze for more information. We don't plan a dinner in February. If you have ideas, please email or call Dale at (951) 797-0364, dale.beckes@gmail.com; or Barbara at (951) 845-6246, bamerton@ alumni.ucla.edu. ~ Dale Beckes 38 FOUR SEASONS BREEZE | FEBRUARY 2015 | CLUBS & GROUPS Rainbow Group Four Season Singers are on break until March. Here we are warming up for the Holiday Show in December. We worked on a lot of new musical pieces for this show and we worked out our lungs, improved our circulation, toned our abdominal and intercostal muscles and worked out our brains. We will be back – look for the March Breeze article – and hope you will join us if you like to sing. For further information, you can contact Barbara Wasco at (951) 797-3466 or email at bawasco@dc.rr.com. ~ Barbara Wasco Four Seasons Singers It is a NEW YEAR and this could be the year of the NEW YOU! We are very lucky to have a TOPS (Take Off Pounds Sensibly) chapter in our very own community. It is here and we are here to help you make some positive changes so that you may reach your weight loss goal. Don't put it off any longer. One of the best things about TOPS is that it is very affordable. Membership is only $32 per year and $3 per month chapter dues. If you would like to come and see what we are all about, we meet on Tuesdays in the Ballroom with weigh-in from 8 to 8:30 am and our meeting from 8:30 to 9:30 am. For more information call Cathy Calhoun, Four Seasons resident and leader at (951) 849-2614 or Rosalee Strong, TOPS Area Captain at (951) 845-9313. ~ Cheryl Burke TOPS What does bereavement mean? It is synonymous with grief, as it is most commonly used. Looking online, there are several definitions of bereavement. One which stood out is, "The state of being deprived of something or someone." Deprivation is not a state of being which is enjoyable. When we are used to having something, not having it is unpleasant. Human beings spend a great deal of thought and energy finding ways to avoid deprivation. When we are deprived of a person we care about, the feeling is way beyond unpleasant. It is excruciatingly painful. Our world still exists but the empty space once inhabited by our beloved feels terribly wrong and all encompassing. Our lives feel unreal and we are numb. And after time passes we are no longer numb. We are overwhelmed with feelings. It may be at this point that joining a bereavement group sounds helpful and perhaps comforting. If that seems right to you, please come try us out. We are a group of people who know what you are going through and who want to help you and have you help us. We have found that sharing our pain, anger, sadness, guilt, laughter and myriad other feelings helps us heal. We meet in the Crafts Room at the Lodge on Mondays from 1 to 3 pm. We make the room private, all conversation is confidential, and you will not be judged. Please just come by or you may contact me at (951) 922-0934 or lauriemlarson425@gmail.com. All contact is confidential. . ~ Laurie Larson Bereavement Group Four Seasons Singers warm up before holiday show
