March Monday Morning Art Classes: Kathleen Scoggin, highly acclaimed Coachella Valley watercolor artist, will be the guest instructor at the Monday morning art classes on March 2, 9, 16 and 30. To see examples of her work, go to kathleenscoggin.com. Kathy's main subject is nature, done in both realistic or abstracted style. Kathy also paints commissioned portraits of cats and dogs. We are indeed fortunate to have her classroom contribution. The cost for the four- week class is $40 for members and $45 for non-members. David Fairrington, who will present the demonstration, is no stranger to the Art League's membership. In addition to his demonstration and Monday classes in February, he concluded the year with a Saturday workshop in December. David is a landscape and plein air painter who enjoys working with both oil and acrylics. He also paints portraits of both children and adults. This year, his classes will be April 6, 13, 20 and 27. We welcome his contribution and encourage any and all residents of Sun Lakes to join us in enjoying his presentation on March 15. The winners of the mini-show at the January general meeting were: 1st place and Best of Show: Marge Amstadter; 2nd place: Jeanette Burks; and 3rd place: Jerry Searcy. Save the date – the Spring Art Show is Sat., April 25. All Sun Lakers and their guests are invited to view the paintings, jewelry, photography, quilts and other art on display at the show.
